Got the ECU, Next Step
Thursday, July 13, 2006 1:07 PM
Ok, I finally found a ECU from a 97 Cav that I can use for my 96 to 97 ecu swap.

My problem is this; I pulled the car from a 2.4 AUTO cav, and my car is a 2.4 Manual. I know i'm going to need to repin the harness in order to make it work right, and I was wondering if anyone had the files for a stock 2.4 5 speed 97 J-body that i could use to flash it once i get it in the car, because im sure its not going to work as is with the different tranny's?

Anyone got any input (or the files, those would be nice)

It'll work fine, there is no physical difference between an auto pcm and a manual pcm. Just pin it according to the auto pin out.

I don't have the files, but you can use any files from 97 to 98, and I think you may even be able to use the 99.

Won't the auto ECU throw a code because it does not see the auto tranny?

Not if you put the 5 speed code on it, or disable the codes

Have you checked Horists site? Just remember, you don't NEED a 97 file, you can use a 98 as well.

*Sigh* Alas, only thing he has thats close is a 98 tune for an Auto 2.4, or a 99 2.4 5 speed.

Shifted, do you know ifa 99 tune will work?

A 99 tune will work on a 97-98 PCM so long as you install the 2 wire knock sensor.

P.S - I have the stock files for a 1998 5spd LD9, a 1999 5spd LD9, and a 1998 5spd 2200.

Chris, the files for the 98 should work with the sensors from 96 correct?
