I opened up the 2.2 ICM, and soldered in wires to make a direct connection from the 2.4 coil trigger wires (from the 2.4 ICM) to the 2.2 coil packs.......

Your saying you just pluged your 2.4 ICM harness right into the 2200 ICM and it worked? I might try that (except I have the DIS HO wired inline between the 2.4 ICM and 2.2 ICM).
