ECU questions
Monday, August 27, 2007 1:49 PM
i figured i would put this here since you guys most likely know the most about the ECU's.

im going to be polishing or painting my ECU, and i was curious if i can expect any adverse affects from unplugging the ECU etc. Will I need to do the Relearn or anything after I'm done? is there anything i should worry about not touching on it when i pull it off?

also, is it possible to get another ECU from a different ecotec and just swap it in? provided its for an auto like my car is?

thanks in advance

isnt the pcm kinda polished already ?

but yes you can unplug it , the computer only has to relearn its fuel and basic maping , which it does any time the batt is unhooked , or a code is cleared

^^^thanks for the reply!! well, in stock form it may be somewhat polished, but mine is corroded to hell. this past winter with all the bodywork, apparently the excess dust coroded alot of my engine bay. i see people with 96 cavs that have never cleaned their bays once that look better than mine
