ok i decide on going megasquirt with mt turbo set up. but to save $160 i deicide on maybe buying it unbuild. what precautions do i need to take. let antistatic stuff. i built a radio on a cirtuirt broad before. it worked kinda but you have to tune the 8 capatiors. does it come with the software and the cable to wire anything up. and the serail cable for the computer?

The fact you ask if it comes with the software and the cable to "wire anything up" tells me that you have no idea what you are getting into aside from knowing that there's a lot fo soldering ahead for you.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and read every damn thing you can on www.megasquirt.info as well as some information on www.msefi.com.

The build instructions for assembling everything is freely available on the first site. However, anything related to installation you have to do on your own. Wiring the system up and tuning are critically major obstacles you have to overcome to get this system working correctly. It is to your advantage to search all the corners of this site for information on installation as well as the two sites I listed above.

i meant the wire for the sensors. i know the built one comes with that. no one mentions that connector in the unbuilt kits.

neither the built nor the non-built ms units come with the harness made up for sensors. you can either buy one premade or make your own.

If i were you i would just wait till the one j-body member on here finished his setup and they are going to do a GP for the megasquirt with instructions and all the parts you need. Im going to run an FMU till they get it figured out

Well I just ordered mine, pre-built MSII v3 with harness and the wideband with controller and guage, data cable, the works. Gonna wire it in for strictly fuel, will work on spark later or go with a MSD, but I will take some pics and try to make a smill little write up too if you guys would like, shouldn't be too hard though come on all you gotta do is wire:

power/grounds
injectors
IAT
MAP
WB02
TPS maybe

you guys make this sound like rockett science lol, remember our cars are allready equipped with fuel pump relays and all that jazz and I am just gonna let the stock comp do my idle, why mess with a good thing? Only thing I would like are some base MAPS to go off but if nobody has any then I suppose I will just work them out myself.

+clt
+tach signal
the map hookup is only a hose

It is not rocket science,
some people get scared off when they see a hand full of wires

while the tps isn't exactly required, there are a few features that are easier to setup with the tps vs just map, and some that require it. of course, this also depends on what version of firmware you are running as well.

You get what you pay for! and trust me Motec is i say the best you can get!

All a matter of opinion. It seems to me that either MS1 or MS2 will do everything that Motec will do, but at 1/10 the cost.
