HP Tuners Software update

Quote:

Chris, just a heads up, we haven't forgotten about you.

We are finishing our USB/CAN interface and our 2.0 version of software and
will be adding the 4 cyl support as well... shouldn't be too much longer
now.. I know you guys have been waiting for a long time.. I appologize for
the delays.

With the rollout of 2.0 it will be much easier for us to add more vehicle
support..

Keith

It will basically allow you to change any engine/trans parameters - shift points, rev limiter, speed limiter, shift firmness, traction contro ,spark timing, fuel injector duty cycle.. on and on...

It turns your PCM into a stand-alone basically - except your existing PCM functions remain, where a stand-alone forces you into alternative methods to replace the other things the PCM controls.

Robo-

My question is will this allow us to remap our fuel (I can only guess yes), and use a 2 or 3 bar map? If this is the case, I'll hold off a little while longer because I'd rather buy this software than mess with the E-Manage if it can do all that can do and more.

If I'm not mistaken here, has the question of when its going to be available become another unanswered question of when another different software is going to become available?

Do they even have a projected date for 2.0?
I'm not involved with the OBDII program - only OBDI and the homemade stuff. Anything specific you probably should ask them - post it on their forum, or just email them

I followed yuor advice and checked the forum.
All I can see is that v1.5 was just realeased 2months ago.
Then v1.6 was supposed to be released in Dec.
then HP said....
Quote:

Guys, 1.6 won't be available before Christmas. We tried like hell to get things done but likely it will be a week or so after. We hit a couple of issues in the features we want to deliver, nothing major, just things that take some time... also some guy decided December was a good time to have a baby

So i'm thinking...
v1.7????
v1.8????
v1.9????
v2.0????
4cyl support for v2.0?

I'm starting to think cars will fly before this ever happens. I'm not trying to excessively flame HP or you (Robo) because several other tuning software companies have been promising the same for even longer. Just venting.
I posted the question on their forum.

if it uses the stock ecu...
will the new NY inspection requirements be problematic?

they now plug in OBDII scanners and look for emmisions related codes, and the can go so far as to drive the car for a while if it has been reset.
At least they're trying. You have to give them credit for that. Too bad someone can't come up with a "replacement" pcm to just plug in place of the factory one that would be fully adjustable and run everything else in the car like the guages and such. I can remember when there would "never" be a S/C or turbo kit for the j-bodies...it takes time.

Not neccessarily true. As a software developer myself, I often skipped the minor version numbers, since this is usually how versions work:

Major Version | Minor Version | Build Number

So...

If there is enough of a change to warrant an increase in the Major version, they will skip right to that. You can easily go from 1.5 to 2.0.

This is what seemed to have delayed it..
The original software and cable were designed around serial port communication - which we all knew well and understood the protocols. The software worked fine, but alot of new laptops seem to have 'forgotten' to add a serial port. The USB to serial converters were flakey so the software was redesigned to work with USB. That meant a whole new cable had to be designed... thats outsourced to another company.

Unfortunately thats delayed things a bit..

wow 50 people.
we should be able to do it, i hope. im guessing the 500$ is just for a cd with product key. oh and probably a obd2 adapter. we will need a lab top.
it will be so great once these come out, i wonder how many "will this screw up my car if i change this?" posts we will get. lol.
