Rev limit, what rev limit.....

The newest update took care of both my limiters...... 7400 never sounded so sweet

once I get my dc/ac inverter working, I'll get some screen shots up......

Big question I have is can the stock internals rev that high, and are you actually making any power going that high??

Great news Brian.

Now the question remains: what are you going to do about timing and fuel past the stock 6400 map if you can't do anything about the values between it and your new 7400 rpm redline?

i've added the spark ramp out and the traction control high rpm/mph fuel cut params to all the 4cyl calibrations now so if you download the newest 2.1.11 beta tomorrow they will be there. If not try the next day.

In any case the 2.1.12 release is scheduled for the weekend/Monday.

Nice!
So i see your are using HO valve springs. Didn't the motor rev ~7200? Or was able to with stock valve train? So ur pretty safe. Mm.. hope a couple of guys test out the stock valve train on a ld9

I will do it if you want to start a funding program for me to rebuild my motor when it goes boom.

oh I'm pretty sure the stock valvetrain is good for 7200rpm.

In your opinion are there any stock parts that aren't? Oil pump, etc?

15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?

oil pump is out of RPM when the engine crosses 6k. (2.4lt)
Watch a decent 270 degree sweep mechanical oil pressure gauge and oil pressure will begin to fall above 5800.

Just wanted to report another success. HPT is able to raise the rev limit and speed limiter on 98 auto 2.4's now as well.

sweet hows it feel shifting that high with the auto ?

Re: Rev limit, what rev limit.....

Feels the same as before, only faster now.

The engine is still reving up faster than the trans can shift just like it did before. The shift point is currently set at 7,000rpm and the rev limiter is set to 7,200rpm, its still managing to hit the limiter before @!#$fing but the results are usually just a small backfire at worst, never stops pulling.

Good stuff Jeremy.

Is this the same Auto you had in last year that you were having problems with?

Yup, same one. Haven't had any problems since. But then again i haven't tried to race it on a track back to back runs in 90+ heat since either.

Hows the "500+ WHP in Summer 2006" working out for you?

Working out slow... as you probably remember this engine crap takes more time than you want. Summer ends Sept 21... I'll see if I can beat that day.

What level have you taken that engine up to? You've had a few years to play with it! Although, I guess HPTUNERS is now giving you the power to actually do what you originally intended with the darn thing....

Do you ever come down around here other than the GayCO bash? I'll be heading up to WI in Sept for a wedding, hoping to take the car.... (If the car gods allow things to get done)

Protomec, what about the oil pressure falling off with the 2.3 swap? I would like to raise my rev to 7 with only ss valves and cams, but like Chris said, what are you guys using to tune between the stock cutoff and the newly set limit?

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon
