O2 low voltage
Thursday, October 12, 2006 5:08 PM
Alright I have a 2003 cavalier L61 80,000 miles . And about once a week I throw a P137 engine code O2 sensor low voltage bank 1 sensor 2. The cat is punched out. So that means the o2 sensor thinks the exhaust has a leak right? But I have no leaks all sealed up. So does that mean the o2 sensor is getting to much air? Most the time it comes on the highway at low rpm. When the sensor reaches the opt. temp. The car is running way to rich. I cleaned the sensors last week. Pulled them out today BLACK. The PCM was flashed once Last year could that be the problem. How can I fix this problem besides replace them I have a feeling it won't stop it.

first you say: The cat is punched out.

then you say: But I have no leaks all sealed up.

if it is "punched" or has a hole then fix it and the code should go away.... if not, then you sensor is bad or you are running to lean or rich, that sensor throws a code when the difference in the readings between the two sensors are way off (i think)

and... i think you are wasting your time cleaning those sensors, lol...

Sounds like he means they gutted the cat, so therefore the primary O2 and the secondary O2 are getting the same readings. Need a manual O2 sim to fix the issue, or of course a new cat.

Youve got more than one problem here.....If the car is running way too rich thats not related to the P0137. P0137 is for a lean/low voltage condition after the cat. and has no bearing on the fuel trims/fuel delivery of thecar. A P0137 is usually caused by:HO2S connector water intrusion ,An exhaust leak between the HO2S 2 and the engine, Vacuum leaks , Incorrect fuel pressure, Lean fuel injectors, An inaccurate mass air flow (MAF) sensor a failing #2 sensor , very high resistance/open in the #2 signal circuit.

If the car is running rich you most likely have a problem with your tuning, MAF or #1 oxygen sensor also.

Interesting info on this. Seeing that we do not have a MAF on J-Body's.

yep John...that is interesting, and true. Noon on a day when youve been up since 11pm is a long day We all make mistakes....thats one of mine, disregard the MAF points.
