NO you don't need to roll the fenders on the Cavalier's / Sunfire's.

You MIGHT be able to do it without removing the fenders , But it will take you a couple of hours longer AND trying to make the adjustments is going to a pain in the butt...

Do you happen to have any pictuers with the doors openning the stock way? I'm just trying to picture how this hinge works. If you only open it so far it's like stock but if you keep going the doors start to go up? Is that right or am I far off. You said there ia an air cylinder with the kit is that just to hold the door up or does that push the door up for you? What is the name of the kit you got and how much did it run you, if you don't mind me asking.

You only use those points to adjust the curve in the middle of the fender to match the curve of the door skin (the factory steel fender needs almost no adjustment so it doesn't really matter)

The bottom picture shows how far the door will open out. The door will not open UP if you don't lift it. The air cylinder is only to assist in lifting , lowering and holding the door up. Just like the cylinder on a hatchback or hood...

OK I see that picture, that looks like lots of room to get in. Do they stay that far out when they go up? Where did you pick this kit up from?

Check this post Group purchase. You can lift the door up from that position BUT it will drift closer to the body as it goes up.

John317- Car looks great.. But one question, how do you grab the door since you have shaved handles when the window is up? Is there a certain place you grab it to lift the door up? I wanna do this but I dont want to look like im trying to put a huge door up on a shelf or something by lifting lol.. I also have shaved handles. Thanks.
Lifting it's no problem. One finger under the top edge of the door under the black window belting and lift up. With the air strut on there the door feels like it weighs about 10 lbs.

I understand that with the stock fenders the tabs in the middle of the fender to adjust the curve are not necessary but with some after market fiberglass ones (like mine) what are we to do?

I see that you have had these installed for awhile now, and wanted to know if you have ahd any door rattling problems, do they leak at all and how stable are the doors when raised up and resting there, do they wobble alot or at all?

Thankls for the info and sweet looking ride. I should have bought the convertable.
I was actually looking at Brad's car the other day and he has areogear Z3 fenders. You would still be able to mount the kit without removing the fenders, it would just take a little bit longer and probably a few more 4 letter words. With his there is no need at all to roll the fenders, there is more than enough room.
yea i too have the vdi kit. i had to do one side by myself and it took me 2 hours. i had help with the other side and it took only 1 hour. the help is just to take everything off quicker. as for the four door question, id love to see the photo chop. my car is a four door and i have an extra set of shocks for the vdi kit. if i cant make the rear doors lambo, i would like to make them suicide. but that is pretty much out of the question considering the mounting and hardware. my next vision is having them come up much like a delorean...but my car is a daily driver and commuter so it will be time before all that. i also have detailed instructions for this kit on my cardomain page if anyone is interested. my cardomain site is: http://members.cardomain.com/41511123

I just want to thank John317 again for a beautiful walkthrough on the doors! I never knew they were that easy to install (Well, I pictured a lot of welding, swearing, torching, swearing, adjusting, swearing, drinking.). I'll be getting these soon....at least that's the plan..

nice install and write up. it answered several questions i had about installing this kit. i have one question though...the doors open like stock still (but not as far), 45 deg., and a full 90 deg. also? are all lambo kits like this, or just the vdi one? thanks.
