I'm just as surprised this forum is still going.
I'm considering the chrome bumper is my second option for making the car look different than the other sunfires out there.
you wanna be different you say?
did you ever think of the reason why you have never seen it done? Because it will look like @!#$. People are going to laugh at you...... and you can't honestly tell me that you think it will look good
but i guess if your trying to be gansta you might as well slap chrome 22s on it and install hydraulics

I'm not into that gangster crap, and I don't care if people were laughing at me. If i cared, I would've writen that Ressurrected J guy another e-mail, and he would've put it on here.
first off, have you ever priced the chrome paint? Its not cheap, Ill tell you that. (I own a performance and body shop in Tallahassee) The Alsa MirraChrome paint and clear is $350-450 for a pint. Thats about what youll need for 1 bumper, thats assuming that whoever sprays it knows what they are doing and doesnt mess anything up requiring more paint (its not like spraying regular paint and VERY few people have done this before). Plus on top of the $400 or so for paint, it must be wetsanded before the clear is applied or else it will look like aluminum foil, so theres another $100-$200 dollars b/c wetsanding a bumper is pretty time consuming. So now were up too AT VERY LEAST $450-$650 just to have one stock bumper painted. And chances are its going to turn out like poo. Even if it does turn out all smooth and nice looking its still gonna look out of place on your car. Its a sunfire, not an S10 or something. Its also 2009 almost, get with the times, chrome accesories went out along time ago.

because, the pic he put up of his cars front bumper wrapped in aluminum foil was only that part, like the post he made here.

lol. hey i would never do it to my car. i think u should do it if you have the money.
but if you do. maybe just dont do the front bumper and thats it. i would get the sideskirts, and the rear bumper if u do!
I planned on doing the the rear bumper too, but i was more worried how it would look on the front. As for the dude saying get with the times, I don't care what's modern, I nearly turned down buying this car because it was too new. I bought it in 2006. I'm more into the cars from 1989 and back, but I fell in love with this car, so I bought it.
to each there own but why?
like i said, not my taste, nor is it like 99.99% of people here on JBO.
but if u like it, go for it. whatever makes u happy! dont listen to everyone else...
its what U do to YOUR car to make your car YOURS. not anyone elses.

I have a freind who does custom chrome for anything..
someone recently wanted a bumber done in chrom ,it wasnt a cavalier or sunfire bumper it was for an oldschool muscle car but the bumper was fiberglass and came out pretty nice
if your that intent on doing this..
Heres a video of the bumper.

Your neighbors must have some weird thoughts about you. First you wrap your bumper in aluminum foil and snap pictures then you use freezer tape and put cardboard teeth on it....
I hope you never get these ideas rolling, very bad investments.
