9006-9007 to 9007 bulbs fixing thw driver side dim-lite

ill get pics soon enough but im sure words are easy enough. i believe i have simplified the process tremendously

materials needed.

9007 headlight wire harness. 2000-2005 cavaliers all have them. not sure about fires
HEAT SHRINK
SOLDERING GUN
ELECTRICAL TAPE
2-3 FEET OF EXTRA WIRE

uninstall of old harness

unhook the negative terminal on battery
remove the radiator shroud
remove headlights.
remove the 9005-9006 head-lite harness from the car. it unplugs rite under the battery tray.
undo the ground wire bolts
you may have to undo the washer reservoir to get the whole harness out

install of 9007 harness

start from the passenger side and line the harness along the metal bumper.
carefully line the remaining harness back through.
plug the harness in
place all the grounds back in original spots.
the 9007 harness also has a plug for the washer fluid motor. tuck that away mabe even tape it off.
on the driver side plug cut the middle blue wire.
tape off the remaining blue wire coming from the harness.
now take the EXTRA WIRE and splice it with the blue wire on the plug.
then attach that to a constant 12v source.
now assemble it all back

im sure most already now how to splice the wires.

im sure im not the the first person to do this. but i thought i would make it easier for everyone else

look over the diagrams i got and test a couple lines with my multimeter then just switched the pinning around on the 00+ harness to match my 97 and everything works great. I got my diagram from a gm servive manual that i bought from ebay to do my V6 swap.

I tried to repin the wire harness and I can't get anything to work like it should. My horn works then my high beams don't etc........ I think I'm going to try your way and maybe I'll have some luck.

So just so I get it right...
Run the middle blue wire from the drivers side 9007 headlight clip/harness to a constant 12v?
Would a switched 12v work that came on when the car was running?

Wouldn't it drain the battery if it was spliced to a constant 12v?

I'll double check, but my 9007 harness doesn't have the 197 sockets that the pictured harness does.

Quick question on the headlight harness. i have a 98 cavalier and i pulled the harness from a 03 cavalier. i noticed this post says the 00-05 cavalier used the same harness, but the two plugs were different where it connects under the battery tray. My 98 has a oval (ish) plug and the one off of the 03 has a smaller rectangular style plug (like the one shown in azncav's pic). do the 03-05 style use a different plug that the 00-02?

UPDATE! forgot about this thread. come to the conclusion that you would have better luck at a plug and play with a harness from a 2000 only cav. i think the 95-00 sunfires may also have the same harness. people who have tried the 2001-2005 harness have found out that connectors a different ( yay GM)
