i have no idea on the weight, you'd need a damn shark scale or something to weigh it LOL

trust me, it IS heavy. and no i am pretty sure you cannot just remove it... maybe with a chissel and 5000 man hours?

it can be removed...me and my buddy did it in his 94 or 95 four door cavalier...whole car had to be gutted and then removed the carpet.

I got no problem gutting my car, I'm putting in Jaz bucket seats and stripping and painting the whole interior this winter when I have another vehicle to drive. I just wanted to know how hard it was and if it was really worth it. I hadn't even known about that padding till reading this. But how did you remove it? Lots of chemicals and peeling? lol
