Which Skirts for Sedan?
Friday, August 19, 2011 7:25 PM
I'm running a 2000 Cavalier base sedan, Ultra Silver Metallic, with the rockers, door moldings, and bumpers painted flat black ATM. I was quoted at 60 bucks for a set of either 96-98 Grand Am SE Skirts or 95-02 Z24 skirts. In the distant future, I'm planning to convert my body to 2002 Z24/LSS. Which would be a better set for general use and what color( Black vs Silver )?

Damn this unable to edit stuff. I really should go premium. I'm currently running a silver 2000-02 Z24/LSS Spoiler on the car as well.

I'm open to suggestions... and I've given consideration to Fire skirts as well. The main thing is, I'm trying to keep costs down, so I'm looking at used parts from other cars. At this point, I want to run this visual set-up on my car: 00-02Z Spoiler, 00-02 Cavalier W-typ front, 02 LSS Rear lip, and any of these 3 skirts- 96-98GA, 95-02 Z24, 95-02 Sunfire Sedan.

Well...aren't z24's only coupes? So that would rule out those skirts.

They came in sedan form for 2 years, maybe 3. There were indeed Z24 sedans, as well as the 02 LSS Sedan in the Gen III, Phase II era.

Well... I was partially right and partially wrong. Yes to 00-02 style Z24 sedans, wrong on the years.

Don't you have to trim coupe skirts to fit a sedan?

why wouold you have to trim? same wheel base. might have different mounting points but thats about it. they are plenty of people who are running coupe sides on sedans.

Awesome. I've thought about it... and did the 02 Z have true Z24 skirts or were they Sunfire skirts?

Same wheel base? I was always under the impression coupes were slightly smaller.

if that was true. then z24 skirts would never fit.

Coupes have a curve in the skirt, sedans are straight across. For most stock (flimsy) skirts, you can bend them a bit and you'll never notice. However.. the LS Sport skirts (for you US guys!) for the coupe don't fit the sedan properly.

The pic above of the 02 Z24 sedan, has Sunfire sedan skirts on it.
