Engine compartment lighting

So I did a search and didnt see much, anyone know of a good link to a few ideas for engine bay lighting?
Im not shocked, but its disappointing they dont put a stupid simple light in the engine bay to work on your car at night. My 69 GTO had one, my Camaros I believe had them, my Audi, and all my SUVs, and Jeeps had them!

Any pictures of how you guys setup/wired your engine bay lighting? LED strips dont do much for working on your car, they are more for looks..looking for functionality here with more 'natural' lighting.
If i see anything in another forum I'll post the link here.

I had one of these (http://www.oznium.com/high-intensity-led-floodlight) mounted to the hood for a while in red, and it lit up the entire engine bay. I can only image how bright a white one would be.

Oznium also sales a hood pin switch that you could use to automate the turning on/off of the lights, just like most vehicles have.

wow now actually that is a good idea.

as for why? well... gm is cheap lol and they love to cut corners. the older berettas got them etc so i have no idea why ours didnt.

id love to have a nice light in my engine bay.. im gonna look into this.

yes, good suggestion (www.oznium.com/high-intensity-led-floodlight) ! I like the idea of 'broad angle' flood lights, maybe one at each corner and tied to a single switch under the hood somewhere.
A lot of manufacturers are keeping them out, its not like they're saving much money doing it, its a cheap setup for any make/model.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/brake-repair/brake-light-wiring3.htm

It's for brake lights, but the circuit will be the same.

Hook a fused hot wire to a switch on the hood, and the other end to the light.

They also make a switch that grounds when the hood is open, which you would wire a fused hot wire the the light, and hook the ground to the switch. It can be done many ways. Personally, I would be happy with a toggle switch under the hood to control the light.

If you want something real fancy, wire in one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/67-72-88-89-90-CHEVY-GMC-TRUCK-UNDERHOOD-REELOUT-LITE-?cmd=ViewItem&hash=item53e99b444b&item=360401552459&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

It's got about 10 to 15 feet of cable on a spool, real handy actually.

Stock Datsun 240Z's had actual test lights under the hood, I thought it was real damn cool.

My truck has one of these..

The cord unwinds and reaches just past the rear bumper. Built in on/off switch and manual rewind mechanism.
