I have a chance to pick up a trunk lid off of a 4dr Pontiac Sunfire, cheap. It has a spoiler on it and is in good shape, just a bit of a drive to go get it. Will it fit on my '97 Cavalier 2dr. ? They sure look the same but I haven't been able to look at the Sunfire real close. Anyone else done this? I like the blacked out lighting look and the spoiler looks pretty good.

Yes, it will fit. All 1995-2005 Cavalier Coupes and Sedans and all 1995-2002 (US) / 2005 (Canada) Sunfire Sedan trunk lids are interchangable. The only difference is in the taillights. If you want to use Cavalier taillights with the Sunfire Sedan trunk lid, you will have a lot of holes to fill from the Sunfire Sedan trunk panel.
