RK IF Body Kit Install Help!
Saturday, April 16, 2005 8:35 AM
I am installing a full Import Fighter Kit on my '99 Z24 (2 door) today. I notcied the RK instructions are plain garbage so I need some help.

To properly install the front and rear bumpers do I need to take off the foam support peice completely off or do I have to cut it down or just leave it the way it is? I tested fitted the front and it seemed to go on OK without the foam support. The rear on the other hand seems to have a fair amount of sag across the part underneath the trunk lid.

Anyone install this kit and offer me some advice?

Thanks!

I only installed the IF front bumper but I cut the honeycomb up to its last full square and everything below that I cut off. Leaving that little bit on the top allows the bumper to fit properly and also prevents any type of sagging on the top.

Exactly what Zach said. To give you an Idea, I cut my front honey comb in HALF long ways and fitted the bumper on from there.. Take whatever your cutting it with and cut from left to right or right to left at the halfway mark. That should give you a good starting point.

This is the same for the rear bumper also?

The rear bumper should require no modification whatsoever. But I wouldn't know 100% because I swapped an OEM 2k rear on mine.

The z24s dont have the plastic honeycomb... It should be styrofoam...

I left the foam off on the front, Its been like that for 2 years now, It does sag a little bit though, So I woudl suggest takeing the instructions above....
For the rear I have the Buddy Club, so I dont know how the roam situation woudl be in the rear with the IF.

So I should leave on the styrofoam then for the rear bumper and it should fit fine with the RK bumper?

Leave it on and see how it fits and if it doesn't then take it off. My car has the honeycomb on the rear and not the styrofoam.

Yeah mine had the honeycomb in the rear too...had to trim just a little to get it to fit right. Just a tip also, before you put the front part of the kit on...paint the bumper black, that way you won't be able to see it through the opening of the kit...looks miles better than say if your car was yellow, and you could see the yellow metal bumper through the middle of the kit.

Cool, we are going to "re-do" the kit and fit it up using the existing styrofoam (in the front) and the honeycomb (in the rear) and see how she goes...

As far as the sideskirts, they seems a little weird to fit too, the notches doesn't seem right. Does the Z24 use the same size sideskirt thru all the 3rd gen years? Hmm...
