J-Body Bash 2015 or 2016...yes that kind of bash

I have been kicking the idea around for sometime now to organize a bash. Most of you old timers may know this, and I have probably talked to you about it quasi recently. I'm thinking of having it up here by me in the same location as the 2010 bash.

I have talked to Quail Hollow Resort, and surprisingly they are more than happy to be the host hotel again. We would receive the same parking lot we did in 2010. Some local restaurants are more than happy to help as well.

Now the following is my main issue and concern. Thompson Drag Raceway...Back in 2001 they were great, 2010.....not so much. A lot of things have changed since 2010 there, but I do not have a good feeling about hosting a drag night their either. To really get a good amount of support from them we would have to rent the track out on a Thursday. Typically we have always went on the weekends, but they can not promise we would have more track time than in 2010. The first guy I talked to didn't even remember us being there in 2010.

Typically drag racing has been a big draw for a lot of us, and I would rather not, not have it. I feel more comfortable having the bash up here encase anything needs to be done in a hurry, since I'm literally only 10-15 minutes from everything.

I believe we could have the car show down at the beach, and could cookout there if needed. There are also a few local restaurants in close proximity to the beach. I also, thought about having a cruise out to and from the wineries / maybe a poker run of sorts. Also, thinking of having a fairly organized swap meet. Still working out those details though.

If this all does happen I'm leaning towards 2016 to make sure all the duck are in a row, and everyone can plan correctly for it. I do think a 2015 bash is very doable, but if we want to have one we really need to get the ball rolling. I just wanted to post this to get everyone thoughts, concerns, and anything else related to this....

2016 is probably the best idea that way everyone has MORE than enough time to plan after everything is finalized. I'd do everything in my power to make it, I've never been to one.

I have never attended one of these, and I have been here for over 10 years.
I would love to come, if the car is in running order.
It usually only runs for about 2-3 months every 2 years.
I push it tooo hard, and something breaks lol.

2016 would give me more time to put the car back together. Lol

Any thoughts on returning to the performance shop from 2010 for the dyno?

Subscribed and listening. I'd be down for either this year (as long as existing vaca plans permit) or 2016.

It sucks to hear about RDP, they were so hospitable! That was definitely my favorite event from the 2010 bash. Aside from meeting a lot of cool drunk people in the parking lot. Although I don't remember exactly the costs in 2010, I do remember it was overall a very affordable long weekend.

I'm in for either this year or next. I missed the 2010 meet, bc I was in basic training for the army.

Well, since I haven't been to any since the 05ish bash (I think that was the last time we were briwnsburg IN) I would love to come to a bash. 16 does seem easier so maybe plan a nice large one for then. But either way I'm down for either. And OH isn't that far from me!

I am in for a bash either year as long as it does not conflict with my vacation

I think a poker run is a good idea. This might be enough motivation to start putting mine back together again

I would love to be able to experience a bash and finally meet some of the people from the forum. I have only been a member a few years but I would love to participate. I think it would be worth the drive from NC!

Quail Hollow was nice in 2010. It would be fun to see everyone again and meet some new members

That sucks about rdp... Would have been interesting to get my car back on the same dyno to see if it's improved.
