Re: Question for the Canadians

Look, I live as far down south of Ontario, pretty much southern most point in Canada: I can literally see Ohio's Fermi two in my back yard. I've lived here for 28 years. In that twenty eight years that I've been here, I've travelled down to Detriot almost every other weekend. Detriot is BAD!! Downtown that is. Detriot and Windsor literally grew up together throughout the years. Take a look at Detriot and Windsor and tell me where you'd want to live. WHY did Detriot turn to crap in such a short time and not Windsor. Why is Detriot the (TIME LIFE books) #1 worst place to live in the U.S.A. and not Windsor. Why are there so many people getting shot, stabbed, killed, rapped on an hourly basis and not Windsor. Believe me , Windsor has only had 5 murders (stabbing for that fact) in the past two years???????? But you know what, every time I've gone to Ohio, Cleveland, and other Heartland city's like those, I've had only great experiences there. I just believe that there would be a lot more people living if it weren't for the age old American constitutional bill of rights stating the right to "bare arms". It was ammended back in the day where people would lose there farms to people running rampade pillaging farms and what not. People then had to cover there families and farms with guns which is fine and dandy, but that day is gone, and it was gone a long time ago. Look at these kids; bring there uncle's or mom's or dads guns to school and imitating what they see on T.V. and accidentily kiiling each other(R.I.P.). Why, because of an old age bill?????? Man, I love guns, I myself own 2 pistols (beretta .40, colt .40 )one shot gun (beretta over and under 12gauge 3"inch magnum) and a rifle(300 whetherby magnum).
In Canada, a lot of people have guns, a lot. I just don't see why the U.S.A can't take care of a problem like this. Families killing families. It's really sad.
By the way, I like the states, I like the people. Hope I didn't offend anybody.

CANADA & U.S.A. Rock on!!!!

Time to get it going again.....

What i dont understand about some American's is when they commit murder. Canadians would never go down that road, doesn't mean we wouldn't beat the $hit out of someone but never kill them. It seems like SOME U.S. dudes just dont give a fuk about their own lives and it's to bad, because we all have one life, why waste it in jail. And i visited Florida, NC, Chicago, New York, Michigan, Seatle, Mid Ohio, etc... All for hockey of course and i must say, you got tallented hockey players and all those places i visited were awesome especially Seatle when i was 13, i was hoping to see Nirvana but was way to young. So yea i had a good time in the states except for on thing, we did have to evacuate Chicago because of a bomb threat which was scary and thats about the only thing i seen when i was there. Most americans are fun, crazy hehe and always willing to partay. The other thing i like about America is the girls on how they beleive in true love instead of the ho's we have in Canada, i swear man we got lots of sluts hahaha.. which is fun at first but then like everything else u get tired of it.. Anyways hope u have fun when u come visite and that u enjoy your stay

Gilles, before I answer what I can.. seriously... Enter is your friend

There are Murders in Canada, it's just that there are siginificantly less... There's 10% the population in Canada as the US, but there are less than 1% the murders (IIRC).

Maybe the lack of easy access to handguns is the reason, or maybe it's just the lack of general tension. Who knows.

Hey, Detroit, Ft. Lauderdale & Miami, Dallas and Houston... The idea that "there are just some places you don't go," is writ large.

it's just different cultures, have bread differnt ways of living

i can't imagine gam drives around each day thinking that if some hits his car, he can sue them for millions, or sue tim hortons, becuase he is now coffee dependant

where at least from what we see americans see that as a viaable life option

I believe lenko tried it...and liked it--and he's canadian . Pac. NW brews, while not as overall harsh as canadian brews in the alcohol range (Kiltlifter is 6.6% by volume), do have flavor and body to them--unlike the pisswater that comes from out east and the midwest.

Too bad London, OT is a hell of a long way from Seattle.

Anyhow, KOTL's recommended Seattle brews:

Pike Kiltlifer
Pike Naughty Nellie's Ale
Redhook Winterhook
Redhook ESB
Pyramid IPA
Pyramid Snowcap

You can't go wrong with any of those.

London OT? ON ?

If you bring Kilt lifter, be sure to let me know ahead of time... I'll bring pants.

And Neal: I'm not addicted to Timmy's... I've cut down to 5 XL cups a day.

Or at least give the Celtic Warrior Salute in front of Latin Mass on Sunday (or the equvalent in Jewish and Muslim faithes).

Still, i will try to bring a wide selection pf Seatle brews if i'm ever in that area and can get them into Canada...since they think that sinister-looking longhaired men wearing trenchcoats in the summer is a suspicious character.

No... sinister-looking longhaired men wearing trenchcoats in the summer are usually prime job candidates.

This whole pissing contest about which country is better is stupid. I grew up in Maine, basically Canada lol. There are just as many places in the U.S. that are as pretty as what you would see in Canada. Canada has its good points as does the U.S. Both also have their downfalls. We both wouldnt be able to sustain ourselves as easily without each other. Even bothering to compare which country is better hurts relations between the countries. Oh ya, I went to Niagara Falls once and I must say you Canadians do a good job of raising the hotties . Also, thanks for Pamela Anderson

^^^ Any time

Comaprisons are natural, If you look at Europe (especially post-cold war) there's a lot of nationalism... I think the thing that invites a lot of discussion about the differences is when an American, or for that matter, someone from outside North America, starts saying that Canadians are the same as Americans...

It's like saying Americans are the same as the French (how's that little bit of salt in the wound?). How many people recoilled when they read that line?

Basically, every country in the west has similar ideals, but there are differences, and lumping one into the whole is a little ignorant, saying they're like-minded, well, that's diplomatic There's no need to start splitting hairs, but recognise that there's differences... US & Canada are partners, both economically and nationally... not always the best of friends (M.Def.Shield, Softwood lumber, wheat, fisheries, Iraq), but when push comes to shove, one can rely on the other to be there in thick of it.

So Keeper, you're coming to London? Right on.. I don't have to drive, I'll even let you sleep it off on my couch.. Oh what a party.. scaring kids and drinking micro-brews.. wooo hooo...

We could get really loaded then go door to door preaching open faith.. You with astral projectioin etc, and me telling them that God provided all of these tools... While intoxicated.. I think it would be funny..

Once sober we'll get out the bikes and rip up to Parry Sound for some twisties..

Hey wait! I thought we were having this party in Banff.. Yum Alberta Beef and Wolf Blass Grey Label.. Then the beer war can begin.

Ya, it is a long, long drive from here to there.... booo

It's called an exchange between 2 board members.

The fact that KOTL has the prospect of getting some with a decent woman is a cause for celebration or at least a little conversation.
