How about the Pharoahs that constructed the pyramids? Or the slaves that actually did the building?? No one knows who they are. Maybe they were just like me...?

Seems pretty pointless to me to argue semantics about it all... I highly doubt Einstein, Tesla, Columbus, etc thought about the impact they were leaving on the Human Race. But hey... did they believe in God or not?

Columbus must have mass murdered all those hundreds of Indians for -no- reason in the name of God, too. What a saint.

I think it's great those of you who believe have faith in some supernatural power... I just don't see eye to eye with ya

Columbus murdered natives because of greed, not for God. Let's not confuse the abitions of Spain with the abitions of the church. Far more died from infection after being exposed to Europeans for the first time. It is estimated that beween visits from Europeans at least 600K died from Pox, could be millions, nobody is sure.

if i repeat something already posted forgive me, its 6 in the morning and i aint reading 6 pages of gods real because my grandpa gave me money, or my momma said gods real cause the skies blue and birds sing.

the truth of it is that yes there is a higher power to the world, the power of self, the power of the human mind, personally i dont buy into the god will make my life better if i wish for it, first of all if your so hardcore then you realize that god has a master plan and that if your prayer is not in the plan you will not get it because it goes against gods word, now if your only going to get what he wants you to have why pray? hes all seeing and all knowing he sees your troubles as they happen, some would say he creates your troubles so praying is just annoying him, do you really want to take the chance of annoying an all powerful being who you will have to spend eternity with? now there is a simple explanation of these prayers come true, if you take into account that the mind is so misunderstood and unexplored who knows what it can do? obviously the pagans, druids and wiccans realize because thats all modern spell casting is, the release of energy to effect your desired outcome, the theory is that if you concetrate hard enough, focus your mind and body onto one goal you can concentrate your energy and release this concentration out in hopes of creating your outcome, sometimes this is basic psychology, if you feel your are going to get what you want, such as a new job, a loan, things of this nature that you need to be confident and sell yourself a bit, or show your reasoning and rational over you are more confident, you go in with a can do attitude which can infect everyone and help you do better.

all humans have the ability to read/feel extra things such as when your around someone and you know somethings wrong your picking up on lots of small things, body language, the energy they put off sometimes its as simple as their actions that show this, but if you've ever walked up behind someone and can feel somethings amiss then that is a good example of what i'm talking about, with time and pateince you can get to a point that you can see these energy feilds some claim to even be able to manipulate them but how far you bite into that one is your own choice.

i dont feel the need to label this as god, i am not afraid of what i can do, or what my abilities may lead me to in the future, i'm very aware of this and completely happy about it. i also have another opinion i'll post but its long so i wanted to break them up.

heres my take on the whole thing and this will be long and drawn out so bear with my poor grammer and spelling errors .

1. all of humanity simply cannot contemplate its own creation, therefore we cannot except that we are here just to be here, there must be a purpose for us all to be here, some greater plan for each of us, some mystical thing we cant see but must feel to go on.

2. religion is a form of control, most major laws came from religious insperation, thou shalt not kill, murder is a crime.

3. at our simplest form we are animals, the same as any other creature on the planet, we beleive we are better because we can create and design and plot and plan, alot of animals have these abilities, some monkeys in the rain forest use sticks and rocks as crude tools, much the same as science believes cavemen did thousands of years ago, i had a dog who if you corrected when he didnt feel he should of been, or left alone, or in some way shape or form crossed, he would either destroy one of the items you liked alot, such as cassette tapes, pictures, magazines anything he could get ahold of, or he would pee and crap all over the house while you were gone, so this proves that animals can reason and have some sense of logic to them. How then can we claim we are so much better, every animal fights for supremecy man is no different we all want to be top dog its a natural part of our makeup of course in any group there are those content to follow they make up the pack and theres nothing wrong with that, just see it in that light for what it is.

4. human history is filled with religious accusations of wrong doing by one culture to another, the germans beleived they were decended from ancient arion(spelling?) blood making them superior to the rest of the world because as anyone knows arions were the race of the people on atlantis, hitler beleived this so much that he set up several large groups to investigate his wild claims and to further push his propganda, and you know what the churchs official stand on it was? not our problem...they ignored the whole thing, kind of hypocritical isnt it? how bout them judgeing all of us as sinners because we arent in church every weekend giving our hard earned money to a corupt group of bible toting hypocrits? doesnt the bible say several times judge ye not your fellow man for only god can judge them or something to that effect?

5. there are more errors and incositencies in the bible than in the michal jackson trial, fully functional people honestly beleive that this book is the word of god, that he somehow told men to write these pages, but how can an all knowing being leave such a bumbled up mess of instructions? read the whole bible and count how many times it actually tells you to do an act of violence against your neighbors, such as when it states that any unruley child should be stoned, any man with long hair should be cast off and made to feel shameful.

Isn't it time that humanity as a whole realizes its time to abolish god from being connected to any state function or logic? they have a hard enough time figureing things out without god messing with their minds, as it sits now we ended up with dubya in charge again( great going to the thousands of idiots and rejects that had to vote for that puss to have a second term and screw things up even worse) i fully beleive that until we can transcend these roles of man, women, child, mother, doctor, rich, poor and see us all as the same species, the same chemical makeup be it white, black, brown or any combo inbetween, we all eat sleep and breathe, cant that be enough?

Religion has evolved the same as mankind has, back when we first learned to navigate the earth we found out that many other people worshipped multiple gods, it was the standard, the romans, the greeks, the norse, the egyptions, all of them worshipped multiple gods along with hundreds of other little religious devisions, keep in mind that all of these developed unassisted by any crossing of the tribes, no one traveled that far back then, anything past eyesite was to far for the most part, then the romans seeing that their way of life was quickly coming apart decided they needed a change, they realized that they were cruicifying alot of guys who claimed to be the son of god(yes there were literally hundreds of guys running around the deserts claiming to be the messiah, dont beleive me look it up) they realized they had a unique oppurtunity to create a society of control, a rigid control that could be enforced thru fear, the ultimate controlling agent this led to catholicism, hence roman catholic, from there they spread this plague on the world slowly stomping out religion after religion until only one was left, even now jehovas witnesses still try to spread the word of god to as many who will listen as possible, if you follow the expansion of christianity across the world you will see the slow and steady dieing of advances, in these early days there was no hell in this book, it wasnt a demonic goat it was just a story of an angel who challenged god and fell before his might, a story to show that challenging his word was useless because you would fall in the end. in the 15th century a preist who had in previous years been a very immoral person, aggravated that he couldnt receive the holy spirit locked himself in his room for 2 weeks, he claimed to have seen visions of hell and wrote a new chapter about how life in sin will lead to purgatory for eternity, so ashamed of what he had done in previous days that he condemed everything he had done himself, drinking, sex, same sex relationships, all of it was stomped into the mud as hard as possible, and this new image of hell was created, the ruler a demonic image of fear and loathing a creature that fed on the immoral acts of these people and would consume their soul for eternity for any wrong doing they ever did. keep in mind this was created by a disgruntled preist, its open knowledge easily researched by anyone who wants to challenge that. now in later years the idea of the devil being a goat/human variation took some life, i forget the artists name but he created the first image of the goat/human devil and his throne until then the devil was a demonic mutliheaded creature. this was a time when the world was very strict on itself, this is around the time that circumsicion caught on heavily, if you can find copies of the old texts from doctors books the actual reason for this surgery was to create an uncomfortable pulling and stretching feeling whenever a man was to get aroused, in effect preventing self pleasure, or much pleasure of any kindthe thought was to prevent these acts, thousands of products were patented in this time span to stop or prevent arousal of any kind from men. the world was so oppressed that we couldnt even comprehend a basic human function, trying to opress it even harder. human history is full of these kinds of things, wars over religion are as hard fought as wars over what is felt is owed, its so sad that we cant even open our eyes and see the destruction and devastation that we are asking for, and giving so freely this country has unleashed masses and masses of devastation the likes of which none of us could ever understand we are the loved grand child of a rich relative who has passed on and left his fortune to us, we give these man children power beyond our wildest dreams then sign up in rows to serve under them, yes i'll go off to war and fight for something i dont believe in, just because someones voice is louder does not make this voice more correct than your own. we as a whole have yet to grow up and see this world for what it is, i lump myself in this category freely because i understand that there is much to learn and much to see but i feel on a maturity level on an insight level i am a few notches up from the average street walking adult, be it arrogant or ignorant its my point of veiw and i'll fight till the death to say it and i commend anyone who is willing to do the same i fully support our U.S Troops home or abroad the work they do is above and beyond what anyone should ever be asked to do and they do it daily and walk with pride, my hats off to any enlisted man. i dont however support our current president, or his choices/ people he brought in with him they havent made many smart choices and this crap about the us being the moral majority is insane, we cant even deal with the simple issues we have in this country, any loving couple should be allowed to marry, god would want it that way, better to be happy than to be right in the eyes of those around you, weed should be legal, god put it here leave it at that natural selection should be enforced brutally if need be, but with rules, any baby that is born and can sustain its own life is obviously qualified, if a child is born and has a mental handicap but is physically capable of living then i guess thats ok to, if a child is born completely cripple, or with serious complications and will require extra ordinary means to survive for an extended period of time why force them to suffer? abortions should be legal but should be limited to certian situations, such as rape victims, incest victims, and younger girls who accidentally end up preggo from jerk of a boyfriend or another such accidental situation but should be limited to time available for this procedure there are some very sick varitions of this procedure out there. health care should be made available to anyone who needs it and taxes should be reduced, if we as americans can survive on minum wage then why cant the goverment do the same? these huge budgets for stupid crap like toilets are insane, if i cant pay my debt at the end of the year they will take my stuff away, yet the goverment has rode a debt for over a hundred years sounds like bad management to me, second i dont think churches should be tax free once they can claim more than a 20% profit that isnt shown as going to local charities, or the community as a whole, i'm tired of seeing preachers drive caddys while their worshippers have to walk 5 blocks to get there and listen.

J~ these are my opinions and go alittle further than the context given here but if i'm gonna rant i might as well spit it all out.

this is way too much for me to read this late at night... so skipping from the first few posts to page 7, my only comment is: it's all a matter of faith.

faith is not something tangable, it's not something you can really describe. it's something that you feel. not with your hands, or your skin... but with your heart and mind.

im not the most religious person ever, but i do have faith. i can't explain it, and honestly couldn't care less... but believing in something that you can't see or hear or even point at is sometimes more powerful than what you see with your own two eyes.

i don't care if God sends me a miracle, or reaches out and touches me, but i know that he is there for me when i need him and guides me. i can't remember the last time i prayed. it's been quite a while since i've been to church. but i know that the God who gave me the miracle of life is there for me.

some people see an event as a miracle, some see it as coincidence. faith is the difference between the two.

don't worry Lenko... i still <3 ya!

God is considered the infinite being, which would make our reasoning next to His less than that of an ant's next to ours. If you created something, or even ran a business, would you not have the final say in what you would accept and reject? You wouldn't want your subjects who don't have the master plan like you to be making all your decisions. It would be chaos. Humans have corrupted natures, therefore at times a prayer will not be aligned with God's plan, and being God His will is the most wise. Many Christians can give an example of how they once hoped and prayed for something but instead received a different outcome and how they truly see now that it was the best outcome that could of happened.

God isn't confused, He knows His plan and what good needs to come from it. Human corrupted natures are forgiven through Jesus and the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in them, leading them and teaching them how and what is good to pray for. Our wills then become aligned with Him, so as it were we start to break free from corruption and begin to see what truly is right and good, which is then what we pray for.

Some will respond differently to different situations. Life and death situations are very eye opening and many find God there. The Lord knows who His children are and they will not be lost; it may take a gun hole to turn to Him but they will turn and be saved. Hopefully the others will turn to Him at another time before death overtakes them too.

I'll never turn to christianity........never. i am firm set in my beleifs, and will never change them. I belevie i am not part of anyone's plan but my own, soley responsible for my own successes and failures. i don't need to pray to a god to feel happy or good or complete or whatever. I have come to realize that i am god of myself, there is none higher than me, to me, in my life I am the ultimate being

Note. i am not saying that i am better than anyone else, only that there is no being more important to me than me. everyone else should feel the same about themselves unless you have kids or something, then its understandable that they may be more important to you than yourself

My friends family is very religious. The father was in a horrible accident and ended up sliding down a hill upside down and stopping only when he hit a pole. Everypart of the roof was crushed except where he was sitting. Sometimes things happen that you just cant explain. Maybe it was god..maybe it wasnt.

i read the first page... that was more than enough.

Although I'm not gonna jump in w/my whole idea of God (who's name should be capitalized whether you believe in him or not, cuz it's just a show of respect to a fellow.... "being"), I will say that this is how i used to feel before I came into Christ:

Do you have anything to lose believing/having faith? Say you die tomorrow and you believe in God, If you're right, you go to heaven *whew*, if you're wrong, it didn't hurt anyone/anything.
Say you die tomorrow and you don't believe in God. If you're right, and there's no God, then you haven't lost anything. But if you're wrong... and there IS a God... then what? Just seems like a pretty big gamble to take when you're betting on all of eternity..

and although I now have a more defined faith and I know in MY heart that he's watching over me, I still find this to be true... what are you losing by believing? It doesn't hurt, ya know?

From the other angle... I used to pray and go to church and all that. I never saw any proof or felt any evidence that there was any "God" out there. So I feel I wasted X number of days/months/whatever on that subject that I'll never get back.

Think of all the cars I could have humped in that amount of time!!

If I'm wrong, oh well.. see most of you in Hell but honestly... since I don't believe in God, I also don't believe in Satan.. therefore, there is no Heaven and there is no Hell... and once I'm dead I'm dead..

You think there's a bug heaven? I don't. There's lots of bugs around tho...

that doesn't mean they all have faith in their little "God bug" or anything... maybe ants are a buncha "reincarnation" followers... and they all get re-made before all the old ones can die... that's why there's so many? *shrugs*

Who says you have to go to church to believe in God? I have faith that my cavy won't break down, but i don't go to Detroit to kneel down to Bob Kern to pray that it doesn't.

I used to go to church, but now i work sundays. ppl say, "well go on monday.. or wednesday or whatever" .. f-that. I have a life. But I can still have a faith in a power greater than myself. And like I said, If i'm wrong, who cares. it won't matter one way or the other when I'm dead, if there's no heaven/God. I'm not hurtin' anyone, and it's not hurtin' me to have my faith, and I'm also not gonna sit around and preach to you all about it, cuz I know i wouldn't want someone preachin' to me about it. Anyone that does not believe in GOD I really dont care about.. From reading through here it seems most of the .org doesnt believe in GOD. Thats something I really want to be apart of. I went to a catholic school for 12 years and dreaded every bit of it. Everyone else knew the bible stories up and down and all this and i really didnt care. I try to go to church as much as posible but i admit the last few years i have went under 25% of the time.. But this doesnt mean I still dont believe in GOD. I pray to the man every night. He always helps me out and finds the impossible to get me out of a tough situation.

Anyone that doesnt believe in GOD.. we as humans we can make cars, gas to fuel them.. robots to do our work. Who other than GOD could create just one human. It would take us more than 10 lifetimes to come close.. nerves, your tounge, your fingers arms legs, everything working an moves.. What do you need to power this body? Food, this food comes from other things GOD made.. Cows provide us with meet, fish, beans and everything else was created some how.. It wasnt created in a lab somewhere.. What else do we need? Oxygen.. Where do we get that? the trees and plant life that surround us. Lastly water, we all need water it is everywhere..

This whole world can (or COULD HAVE) live without any factories making doritios and dr. pepper and everything else.. we can live off other animals and water. we can make our shelters out of wood from the trees.

This is a very complex plan and like i said, everything works together. We can not even trust our country to one man to keep under control. This guy created it. We could not create anything much less the millions of plants, animals, gallons of water, the human mind and body. This would take forever for someone to create..

I never understood the part where there was no starting date.. its just the earth has always been here.. I guess thats just where you got to have faith.

Anyone that doesnt believe in GOD or some higher power is ignorant.. I hope they have fun burning in hell.. Then maybe you'll have some faith..

well i don't beleive in hell either, to me the closest thing to hell is whatever you don't like in your life, like for me being without a car is my hell, and my heaven is doing what i love, IE, working on my car, or spending time wiht my family. I don't beleive there is a hell or heaven when you die, i think when you die, thats it, lights out, so do what you want in life, your just gonna die anyhow

yeah i know, that site is a little cheezy but it gets the point out and debunks a lot of the myths and lies about satanism. and i try not to knock others religions either, if they beleive in an allmighty God then thats fine, whatever works for them, its just not my thing, personally i don't care if someone worships an empty beer can, as long as it makes them happy

You'll never touch God's hand
You'll never taste God's breath
Because you'll never see the second coming
Life's too short to be focused on insanity
I've seen the ways of God
I'll take the devil any day
Hail Satan
