I think it boils down to a feeling of being oppressed by a society ruled by a religion that actively seeks to gain political control to spread its idealology to everyone. Thats why we outcry, because we're the minority, we're the marginalized paradigm of society that doesn't fit into the "social sphere", an "enclave" so to speak. Anyone whose studied Aristotle or taken a debate class will follow my pattern of thought.
