Any Conservatives NOT happy with Bush?
Thursday, April 28, 2005 8:04 PM on j-body.org
I consider myself to be a Republican by ideals. I have to say, I am completely disappointed in the party. Smaller government? Yeah right. Controlled spending? Yeah right. Jesus, at least the Democrats are consistent and its usually the blue collar guy or the environment benefiting from their policies.

I don't know many conservatives who are happy with Bush. The majority of the ones I do know actually voted for him; but they aren't willing to accept responsibility for his actions.

I'm disappointed for the same reasons you've mentioned. Here are the points the Republicans sold me on 5 years ago..

Fiscal Responsibility? - Record debts and deficits.

Less Government? - How many agencies have been created and enlarged since 9/11? And all somehow paid by tax CUTS.

Less Government intrusion into your private life - Anti-Gay Marriage bills, Terri Shiavo.

Better Integrity? - Tom DeLay.

The Republican Congress during Clinton's era was the best government we've had in a LOOOOONG time. Their comprimising and negotiations managed to reform welfare and balance the budget.

The Republican Congress with Bush sucks ass. <-- That's my official position.

too much of the same party in controll is bad no matter the party. that seems to be part of the problem.

I place more blame in Congress for going along with a majority of what he asks for. Congress needs to take a stand and say enough is enough.

I think a lot of Bush's idea's are noble but just not feasible.

yea i agree with that ^^^^^

I think the biggest problem is that the whole washington thing from top to bottom is too much like a flock of sheep. As little as maybe 25-30 years ago Senators and Representitives used to bring thier own ideas to the table and they weren't castrated by thier party for calling it like they seen it or introducing something new.

Nowdays everyone votes according to the party agenda reguardless if its good for thier state, the country, the world. Nobody speaks out against the majority. Ppl go to Washington to be on one of two sidelines.

Thats is why I like the idea of an independent politician. They are there for the people. The unfortunate thing is that they don't have the power, people don't vote for them because they won't win, they won't win because no one will vote for them.

I am upest about Bush's policy on the Border issue. I am upset that he is not for the Minuteman project. We need to Close the Boarders!!!! Let Educated people in.

Deficit can be expected with the War.

Tom Delay is being attack because he is probably most effective and true Conservativein the Senate.

I am upset he hasn't got the Social Security passed yet. I don't really care for the rest of you I wan't my Social Security money I know I can invest it better than the Goverment. Hell if my wife can do it because she is a teacher in Ohio, I should too.

I wan't Tax Reform and I am all for the Fair Tax and I have been for this since before it became a somewhat hot topic.

I think that this was the time for Bush to be ReElected because of the War and the Crisis with the War on Terrorism. But I will admit that it with politics the way it is today. That a Democrat President and a Republican controled House and Senate. The Democrates will @!#$ up because they have the Presidency, And the Republicans wont be as abstructed in the House and Senate where and the Republicans can get the Job done where it counts.

^^^^^^^ I Agree, the minute man project should of been an eye opener for bush and how most Americans(Texans/ check profile) want the borders closed, and then he goes off saying they are quote"Vigilantes". Close the borders, speed up the process for becoming an actual citizen therefore we can slow down the reason for illegal immigration.

Tom Delay, ok so he took a trip w/ his family paid for by Lobbists but every politician has done the same thing for example Barbra Boxer(Democrat, California) took an expensive vacation to Brazil paid for by, guess who the Lobbists.(The reason i said expensive is because i dont remember the exact figure. Stated on the Shawn Hannity show AM950 houston tx.) The Democrats are trying to divid an conquer the republican party and they are doing a good job.

Bush was put into a tough situation when he entered office, economy going into the tank, 9/11, budget cuts to the military, and so on. Now on certain issues he has done well. However on others, I just want to go up and punch him in the face and say "wtf were you thinking"(allowing ILLEGAL immigrants drivers licenses, if you give them that then they can drive but will they have auto insurance NO).

I am for Social Security reform, I want private accounts, i want to be able to invest, I would put my cash in CD's or Blue Chip stocks. We need to reform Social Security and raising the tax 4 Social Security wont fix the problem is just delays the inevitable.

Completely happy. The only repulicans I have ment that are unhappy with Bush, are the republicans on this board. In fact I even know several democrates who are exteremely happy with Bush for actually doing somthing rather than sit back and keep things the same like the average democrat.

Bush's plan for Social Security (while a step forward) still stinks. The government hand picks a few choices of mutual funds for you to choose from, so its not that you really get to choose how you invest on you own. That also seems to leave some room for corruption (ie, which fund group is in the President's back pocket the most).

Technically, we are not at war. We are on a Police Action. Congress never declared war on anyone. Bush is able to keep the "war" going only because its a Republican congress that reviews his actions and keeps approving resources needed.

We do need to let educated people in. We also need to let uneducated people in. I have no problem closing the border.... as soon as their is a plan in place to get people in rapidly to serve our labor needs. I liked Bush's original immigration plan, but other conservatives did not. One example of where a Democratic Congress and Bush would of gotten something done together.

Man, that guy is dirty like Newt. That's obvious. They'd didn't change the house rules for shiz and giggles man, he NEEDS to be protected.... for a reason.

If Bush's sliding scale is mathematically sound, cause God knows his plans have been very unsound in the past, I'd go for it. Less Government on my money, the better.

Wasn't the Social Security fund supposed to be basically a gov't slush fund?

Basically, it never was supposed to be paid out... because the mean life expectancy was 57 at the time it was introduced, and after that, it went beyond 65?

Canada had this same kind of problem but we more or less addressed in about 8 years ago... the Canada Pension Plan was converted from being a money-holding aparatus to a money making aparatus. It's independantly administered, and the money that's taken in is (obviously) tax-deductable.

I seem to remember Alan Greenspan had a good idea to convert the fund over, and you can suppliment it with outside investments, but what does he know?

I think the "War on Terror" is a bunch of crap if you ask me. As long as people are different, and people don't accept that others are different... and can't accept people for who they are and ignore the fact that we are ALL different... there will always be "Terror". The only way a war on terror will ever be won is if everyone all of the sudden realizes "Hey... I don't care if you're different than me... I don't care your skin is a different color, I don't care if you're religion is different, or your political views different, or that you simply don't think the way I do... I accept you for who you are as a person and will not think any less of your for it"... and we all know that'll never happen.

I don't like the idea of privatizing social security. People make bad decisions... it's part of being human. What's going to happen if someone invests their life savings into somewhere... and it goes downhill? They are then left with nothing. We live to work and pay taxes... for our life's hard work, and all of the taxes we pay to our government... they should look after us when we retire or are too old to work at a job to make a living. Heck... they basically get full pay and benefits when they retire... and all they do is make decisions for "us" supposedly... tell us what to do and how to live our lives so to speak. I'm not knocking the government... but I think that if George Washington were here today, he'd be really upset with the way our government has turned over the years and the corruption that has grown. I don't personally think the government is governed the way our founding fathers wanted it to be. To me... it was supposed to be "For the people, by the people... etc". Seems nowadays the interest is more towards the government and what they want for us... not entirely what we want. Ok maybe I'm just a little angry at the moment.

I just don't think it's fair for them to be able to vote themselves raises, vote to give themselves wonderful pensions and retirement plans, healthcare, etc. We can't do that... someone else decides whether we deserve a raise or not... we should decide whether or not they get a raise. If they do a good job FOR THE PEOPLE... they get a raise by the people. I just am not happy with the way things are going in this country at the moment. Not saying Bush hasn't had any difficult moments cause he has... not saying he's NEVER done anything good at all... I just don't personally agree with the decisions he's made... hence why I voted for the opposition.

Granted, I do think the Independant parties would do a better job FOR the people... but like was said.... they just don't have the power at the moment to do so.

It then becomes their fault for not diversifying their portfolio. If you don't want to save your retirement or you make very poor decisions, just keep working and never retire. Its not the responsibility of everyone else to take care of you. Its not like you have a right to retire.

Exactly... if you invest all of your money in the same stock that is taking a huge risk, hell just put it in CD or bonds which earns a certain amount of interest over a long period of time. This is similar to a savings account but you cant touch the money for long periods time(5,10,15,20 years) and these accounts earn a certain amount of interest every year. You dont have to invest your money into the stock market their are other alternatives.

Listen you dont listen to talk radio much, their are quite a few Republicans that are not satisfied with how Bush is pandering to the Democrats. Hell we won the Congress and the presidency and then we go back to the Democrats and ask them what their opinion is on the issues and they dont have one, just dont do what Bush wants to do.

Call me weird, but isn't the goal of the government supposed to be doing what america thinks is best for america, and not us vs. them?

I agree w/ you keeper the goal of our government is to do what the people want . But niether side does that, hell the democrats havent offered up any new plans or they are blocking the republicans from getting something done. The republicans are bickering among each other. It is a lose lose situation and its frustrating to watch and listen to. The complete system has gone to hell. Its not a government its a bunch of idotic liars that cant get their heads out of the Lobbists a$$es.
