Has anyone noticed....
Thursday, May 05, 2005 8:34 AM on j-body.org
Has anyone noticed that there hasn't been an elevated threat level since election time.

In fact, the whole color coded "threat-meter" thingy has all but vanished since Nov. 2, 2004.

/curious.

The Pakastanis caught number three, and they didn't just do it.. They just announced it, there's a difference. As far as I know the US has not colonised Pakastan yet.

Bush is like any corporate middle management:

Taking credit for something someone else did.

As hahaha said, it was the pakistanis that caught #3, not bush. Bush was most likly in the white house or capitol hill

I was making mockery of it... which I have been since it was introduced.

You made a point that was ininformed, incorrect and are perpetuating it still. Bush didn't capture anyone... that would mean he has actually faced combat.

The point I was making is that it's no longer useful... People are bloody scared of everything enough as it is... Permanent Yellow Alert my foot.

like i said: bush and his team, meaning the army, navy, airforce, marines, etc (you know, something that canada does not have). Of coures bush isnt in combat, thats like saying your boss/manager is the one always mopping the floors, helping all the customers, and doing all the dirty work. chances are, the manager is sitting in his office making decisions for the employees.
Your point was just as useless as mine, at least i tried to stay positive.
theres my "bloody" .02cents.

GAM posted the terror chart in Sesame Street characters because..........the post was about elevated threat level and how we have heard nothing about it.

You posted that was because Bush is doing a good job and that was irrelevant as no one stated that he was and/or was not doing a good job.

People tend to forget about things when it is not in thier face all the time, the threat level was elevated before elections to help the campaigns of the candidates (more Bush than anyone else but that is not the point)

Again as pointed out, the Pakistanies (sp?) caught number 3, not Bush's "team" of the army, navy, airforce, Marines.

And as for that Canada dig, we do have an army, we do have an air force and we do have a navy. So please try not to make such claims without some education first.

I thought it was obvious in most of his ignorant posts that he only has a 3rd grade level education and maturity level if even that.

Staying positive is just deluding yourself. I don't. I call things as i see them and could care less about the ramifications or if it doesn't give a rats ass over who feels uncomfortable about it.

And if it makes people like you who constantly grease up your naso-anal interface for Bush uncomfortable realizing that bush didn't do a damned thing, but is taking all the credit, tough @!#$ski.

Bush and his team? Pakistan isn't part of the "team," Pakistan is responsible for Iran gaining enrichment technology for their reactors...

You know diddley about Canada, So keep quiet on that.

If it weren't for "battleground states" Bush and Cheney would have never seen combat, and don't forget that.

My Manager actually has an Idea of what is being done, and has to be able to do the same job, and the job above me, They've actually DONE my job, so they know what makes sense and what doesnt.

My point was (yet again) The Color coding system for terror alerts is just another way to keep you scared, complaint and all the more ready to give up your Liberties, privacy and rights for the illusion of safety. If you want a hint at what the lunacy is, school yourself on Patriot Act II.

As far as I know.. we are still at Terror level Bert.

Should your terromiter spike to Ernie or Elmo, you may begin hoarding consumable items of unimportant nature in irrational fashion, and possibly begin rioting.

Until then, the thought police will continue to acquire more information about suspected Kazaa terrorist users.

About your day citizens.

Terror level went to Red (highest) today for 8 minutes.

Apparently a student pilot was "lost" and strayed within 3 miles of the capitol, prompting a mass evacuation. The president was not aware of the increased terror level for a full 15 minutes, while his security detail was immediately notified.

ELMO!!!! ELMO!!!! ELMO!!!!

I heard about the Elmo Alert and the Evacuation, but it was only in passing this morning (we get last nights' 11 o'clock news at 5:30am). I figured some minor mishap would cause this kind of thing.

As an aside:

Am I the only one that is scratching their head with the scale? There was a permanent state of Bert Alert delcared when it was introduced, so why bother with Oscar and Cookie Monster?

Seems like added on add-on from the department of redundancy department.

Yeah it's quite funny that there's no real need for raising it every 2 days, since election season is over. And it's especially funny(or convenient) that the threat was raised repeatedly over George Tenet's direct objection - without any real solid evidence to justify any higher alert.

Quote:

The Bush administration periodically put the USA on high alert for terrorist attacks even though then-Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge argued there was only flimsy evidence to justify raising the threat level, Ridge now says.

Ridge, who resigned Feb. 1, said Tuesday that he often disagreed with administration officials who wanted to elevate the threat level to orange, or "high" risk of terrorist attack, but was overruled.
George Tenet wrote:"More often than not we were the least inclined to raise it," Ridge told reporters. "Sometimes we disagreed with the intelligence assessment. Sometimes we thought even if the intelligence was good, you don't necessarily put the country on (alert). ... There were times when some people were really aggressive about raising it, and we said, 'For that?' "
Seems pretty obvious that all those times we had raised alerts - then dropped them back to normal - was to scare people aka "remind them of the 'imminent' terrorist threat" and make it look as if Bush was fighting off terrorist threats left and right(letting people assume that everytime the threat level fell back down - was because Bush & company foiled another vicious terrorist plot etc etc - lol) - which of course wasn't the anything close to reality, but knowing full well that people come to their own (false) conclusions...

Of course the only real "threat" that Bush Administration officials where fighting using the this - wasn't a terrorist threat at all - it was the potential "threat" of a new administration.

Furthermore, supposing that in the future their actually is real SOLID info of an imminent terrorist attack, and the threat level is raised accordingly, who's going to take it seriously?! Kinda makes the whole color-coded threat system (even more) useless. I guess Bush should have read the story of the Boy who Cried Wolf instead of Billy the Goat after all.

I've never heard of this "part throttle" before. Does it just bolt on?
