I gotta laugh at this...

Okay, I'm not the most patriotic of anyone here, but even i understand that formation. I just would love to see the response on the guy's face that wrote the "wake-up call" letter to the newspaper when he found out that was a funeral formation...

I do have to hand it to the Colonels, though, they did keep some incredible tact in their responses...

One more example of someone making claims about the government when they don't know anything about what they are bitching about.

It's someone eating shoe leather.

Didn't know what was going on, and the tone/attitude said a lot more than the guy wanted to let on.

I must admit that 9 am is a scoche early, but if there's only one aircraft, it was probably someone that got in trouble, if it's 4 in formation, that should say something.

Idiots abound EVERYWHERE!!!

Yeah, but the apology was posted later. The original article made him look like an idiot.

But he apologized, so that's about that.

Man, people complain about the dumbest things.

We have March Air Reserve Base around where I live, and most of the time there are planes flying in and out of that place, and it does get pretty loud at times, but I would never think to complain about it.

I don't get it, just let the people who are flying do their jobs. It's not like 4 jets would just be flying overhead for the fun of it, there has to be a reason for it.

Blah.

yeah at least he had the guts to apologize, still its true people get offended over whatever they want. What really ticks me off is people complaining about airport noise, eg. Dulles airport, close to DC was built decades ago (I'm not exactly sure when but it was at least 40 years ago I"m sure) It was built miles from any major housing areas, now the area has built up around it in the past 10 years or so and people move into these houses under the final approach pattern, then complain about the noise.. I mean did you not notice the control tower in your backyard when you bought it..

Fudd: You mean they don't just drop into place???

My mantra: People are idiots... The average person is dumber than a sack of hammers, and half of them are dumber than that!

the only thing that i can see in his original rant (not that i agree with him comlaining about it) was that if it really was a "wake up call" as he put it, then he probably didn't see the formation and only heard the noise of the jets flying overhead. so if he didn't see the it, he probably wouldn't have known what formation it was. granted, he should have just gotten over the fact that jets flew overhead and moved on with his life... but that's a whole other barrel of monkies.

Well, I dunno about the place specified, but I live in an area that isn't part of normal approach patterns, and during an air show, I had to contend with a B1 turning around and making for the air show grounds @ almost Mach 1.

The pilots got a slap on the wrist, and our condo insurance paid for the cracked windows, but it was still a hassle.

I can see at 9ish in the morning, it would be a hassle, but if you're not out doors and don't happen to catch the formation, I'm pretty sure that most would think it was a "Maverick" wanna be. Spouting off in the paper might have been a bit much, but at least he found out what was happening, and owned up to @!#$ up.

I'd say that the 2 responses were a little less courteous than I'd suspect the military is accustomed to paying out... but what the hell. It's one guy putting his foot in his mouth, so much more attention being paid to this than other more important and pressing matters.

I agree with Cannon Fodder (even though I'm the God foddah ), but people get ferclempt about stuff all the time, what's so different about this?
