What are these cretins thinking? The animals that used to be here died out for a reason...

STOP @!#$ WITH NATURE!!!!

They're not. It's not even a large group of scientists, it's more the media needing something sensationalist to report on today.

what the hell? Those species and the species that existed 13000 years ago aren't even the same species! I can just see the headlines "pride of lions terrorizes Midwest"

man some people are dumb!

well, if anything goes down like did in my area they will reintroduce them and deny it whenever questioned. in iowa, DNR released a whole bunch of large cats: cougars, bobcats, even had reports of a "large black cat" roaming around an hour from where i live. since then, theres been hundreds of reports of sightings and probably 5 of them killed. before this there were none. DNR still denies they released any.

They most likely won't Agustin, but this was right up there with the @!#$tards trying to obliterate hurricanes with nuclear weapons...

(meanwhile, the Deity Cable Network on station Homo4--all homo sapiens, all the time). Next on "Those Dumb Scientists", Humans try to reintroduce tertiary predators to the North American Continent--hilarity ensues.)

Hey now... Have you seen Newtz's attempt at bulldozing a Moose?

Either way... someone said scientists could close dinosaurs to find out what they looked like... my answer to this is the same as the answer to cloning in general...

Bullsh#t!

hahaha, thats great

seriously if you were driving through this area you would be @!#$ outta luck if you had to wait for a herd of wildebeest to cross the street, or if you hit a water buffalo, or you got a flat and were changing it and you were jumped by a leopard and dragged up a tree. Talk about livening up the MidWest

And then Steve Erwin would come and be like "he-ya in Nowth Amairica, we find the leest liekly cree-chas... crikey Terry get the bag! I just nailed a 6 foot monita with my land rova... whoo-ee!"

Borsty I don't know where you live but down here where I'm at we actualy get bear every once in a while in the surrounding communities. Dont know if you guys heard about it but a black bear was hit and killed trying to cross I-95 about a mounth ago.

And right down the road in Patapsco Valley state park we have mountian lions. they have been seen and tracked but never caught. I saw 2 of them from my car on Landing
road which is just outside of Ellicott City. So they may be rare but they are still around

PUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! THATS GREAT!!!!

It would be pure insanity to bring those kinds of animals back.

As long as you don't bother them they won't bother you. I'm sure they'll have fences and security measures in place to keep the animals in a certain area. Also lock your garbage up so they'll have less of a reason to come into inhabited places.

And that would solve??? Nothing! Enjoy watching it instead of killing it.

Which would totally obliterate the entire point of reintroducing these animals. It would become nothing more than a glorified zoo.

^^ That seems to be what they are exploring.. For more "ecotourism".

Whatever, the plan is crazy and likely won't get off the ground anyway.

If they can only harvest mitochondrial DNA (Bone/Hair), they're not going to do it.

Just like the Raelians wanted to clone a human... It's Bull.

It could never be done.

Bones and Hair only have 13 of the 26 eleels (or one half of the markers dependant on species) required to determine indivduality. You can track paternity, but you need nuclear DNA, and once there is only bones and hair, you're SOL for cloning.
