Turbos can't be illegal in virginia.. Maybe adding a turbo or upgrading one, but the device itself is installed in 90% of the trucks out thee and in fact almost every diesel engine, they can't be illegal.

If you read the laws, it says any altered suspension is illegal. But then they throw some other crap in giving out height limits. So you can lower your vehicle, but I'm sure if they wanted to, you could still get in trouble for it. I'm sorry but any non stock replacement exhaust in VA is illegal. The judge told me that first hand. I know they aren't always right, but I heard it from his mouth and I read it.
You're not going to drive around all day long with the vss bypass on. You would only do it when you needed. The only thing that does suck is that you have to turn it off and then turn off the car so that the shifting goes back to normal.
Hahaha, are turbos stock on our car? No so that means you'd have to add one. That means it's altering the exhaust. Come on now.

State's laws cannot supercede federal laws. Eaton-Magnussen act.

What I read said turbos were illegal, it didn't say anything about what makes/models... Hey if you mean only mods then say it.

with most all you said...this sums it up....

check it out on SEMA...

its no different than when they banned ephedra, but now a judge in utah a FEDERAL judge overturned it... so really its legal again, not that it mattered cause they banned ephedra, but made ephedrine illegal, which is like banning weed, but selling THC....

N-E-Waz......

like i said... its legal.

Quote:

What are the bumper height laws in the state of Virginia?

Section 46.2-1063 states:

Alteration of suspension system; bumper height limits; raising body above frame rail. -- No person shall drive on a public highway any motor vehicle registered as a passenger motor vehicle if it has been modified by alteration of its altitude from the ground to the extent that its bumpers, measured to any point on the lower edge of the main horizontal bumper bar, exclusive of any bumper guards, are not within the range of fourteen inches to twenty-two inches above the ground. Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section, the range of bumper heights for motor vehicles bearing street rod license plates issued pursuant to § 46.2-747 shall be nine to twenty-two inches

you can lower a car, LEGALY....... you just cant use the idiot method and "slamm it mad tite yo money g rock" on crap coilovers and expect it to be legal.

on exhausts, you can modify it.... however you have to remain in line with the Common....of Va DEQ... Department of Environmental Quality...

which means you have to have a cat, you have to have a muffler that works, not just a noise maker, and also possibly a resonator.... real simple, its legal to modify, but illegal to turn your car into a giant noise maker.

if you have to turn the car back off, to get it to shift right, that the first clue that you shouldnt be doing it. thats like watching porn on your moms computer, but having to reformat the hard drive each time so she wont find any traces of you doing so.

for people who actually need to get rid of it, there are plenty of ways, where you dont have to half arse it... such as computer upgrades.... easy and for the price of what most will pay a shop for a new transmission after theirs goes through enough damage from the hard shiftin.... you could have a completely programable tec 3....

but like said above from GAM, take a look at the magnusson-moss act
