i think i got a 90 too. i took it in 2002. math was my weak spot. 4 different recruiters showed up at my house and asked me. 1 from the marines, 1 from the navy, and 2 from the nat'l gaurd. i was getting sick of it so i just told them i was HIV positive....(im clean) they finally stopped.
crap the first time i took it(only good for a few years) i skipped one of the dots in one section so i had to go back erase and move them
ran out of time on that and still got an 89

umm i have my asvab results sitting her and underneath "Military Careers Score"
it says "Military Entrance Score (AFQT)"...i dont really get what you mean
i just took mine on friday and i was told i could "get into anything i wanted", but the print out i have says

Since i'm going into the air force (it shows the score for all braches) i got a 90 for mechanical, 76 administrative, 80 general, and 86 for electrical

dont think there is one better than another...( i know u didnt mean it that way)...but i do feel that the air force is probablly the best way to go now. you basically arent in direct combat
i meant quality of life.......like for example, as an E-1 through E-4 in the army, thats private through specialist, you will have a roomate, in the airforce, E-1 through E4, thats basic airman through senior airman, you will have a private room, little stuff like that makes the airforce a wiser choice i think

I took the ASVAB a year ago. I scored extremely high on the test. The army wants me bad but i heard the army is not a good place to end up. I've met with recruiters from all over and they want me to join bad. My score is high I guess according to the armed forces. The even offered me a few jobs like working with steel and making $26.50 an hour with benif. and I can take it any time of the day if I want to. But I don't wanna waste my time joining because I have better things to do with my life like moving on in the real world.

this is just a general statement, but if you're not planning on joining the armed services then do not take the test. it is completely worthless
Well I took the test last Thursday. I tried my best and thats all I can do ya know. I still feel like my weak spot was the car and electric part but then again thats my fault for not studying before hand. It will take a couple week prolly to get my score back. I hope I did better. I will post to let everyone know. Thank you for all the help and advice!

when I took the asvab's I got straight 99's... then they "normalized" the test. now I've got like a couple 97's lol

What job are you shooting to get in the military or dont you know yet? I believe I scored an 89 or so, I'm now doing military intelligence for the Navy.
so i finally got my scores back today. Not too good. I just don't know what is killing me. I think it is the mechanical parts. I got a 47. Again not good not bad I guess. Its enough to get in. Now I got to figure out what I want. I think I am going to finish my asscoiastes degree I only need 10 class and they are all the math and english classes. I always was thinkin of going reserves? Still a lot of opions.

I'd go reserves if I were you. Gives you a chance to make pretty decent money for minimal time, and still go to school.

^^ ya thats what I have been thinking. I still want to get my school in. I really dont know if I want computers or law enforcement. I need to sit down and figure everything out. 1 weekend a month two weeks a year for the reserves right? Also if I decide to go full time I still have that options right.

But seriously man, judging by your ASVAB trouble you might not be a good fit for computers. Law enforcement sounds like it might be a great fit however. You'll be in the physical shape needed to pass the cop tests, and you seem like a nice guy. We need more nice cops.

I would be really heistant to enroll myself in anything that had to do with the military right now. For fear of being sent off to Iraq. You can get a criminal justice degree from any local college that can help you get a job in law enforcement. You will get real life expereince in the military yes but you will need to take a civil service exam to get a law enforcment job. Take a look around at those test see how hard they are too.
Just a little advice. I just joined a reserve unit (i am active duty Marine Corps training reservists). First off on the reserves. They don't get as much money to go to school. I don't know the whole deal yet. But I know a guy tried to take the same class that I was taking and all he could get was something like 300 a month while enrolled in school. He had to come up with the rest. Whereas I got 2400 dollars in one month.
Second, on the ASVAB take it again. There is a book you can buy from any bookstore. It pretty much teaches you everything you need to know to do good on the ASVAB. You don't want to enlist in any branch of the military with a score of 47. You won't get a very good job. In the Marines that is infantry and @!#$ suckers. Just thought I would help.

i took the ASVAB yesterday, i find out my score on tuesday. it was freakin easy. the math gave me a bit of trouble but im confident in my ability for it (for the most part), on the auto electric and everything else i flew threw, it was like childs play especially the automotive part.
one question said "what is the 4 cycles of a combustion engine?"
