I dunno, working with some of the kids that idolize 50 cent and his ilk, it's kind of hard not to realize just how much this stuff affects them.

I can't count how many "kids" I've got in my classes that think they're "thug" and "gangsta." It's actually kind of difficult to deal with, because they think they're so tough and they refuse to listen to you when you ask them to do something.

Now, yes, I know that kids generally don't like listening to teachers, but I've yet to find one child that loves Brittney Spears and shows blatent disregard for authority. It's the rapper lifestyle that they try to emulate, most likely because they don't have a decent role-model at home, so they find the "toughest" guy they can on TV and put up a rather pathetic facade that will eventually get them in serious trouble.

I've been told of the toughest junior high kids (and what the heck are junior high kids doing being "gangsta") moving into a high school setting where the other kids got tired of their @!#$ really quickly and beat them to within an inch of their lives.

This is what we want our kids to be like? No offence to those who like the music, but the lifestyle is absolutely not something we should be glorifying. I don't care where you grew up, if your life is filled with drugs, ho's, and people shooting at each other--it's NOT a good thing.

So as far as this video game goes--some kids can handle it and some can't. The problem is, the ones who probably could handle it have responsible enough parents to not let them play it. The ones who can't, well, their parents obviously didn't do their job in the first place. It's a lose-lose situation.
