Whatever, the queen is a figure head just like Bush is a figure head. Either way everything still goes through the senate and everything goes through Parliament. The point is they are in it too so may they should complain to their own government or do something about it instead of hiding behind a computer. They are entitled to their own opinions but if you are going to throw a big stink about it, have pride in yourself and your rights and do something about it, if all you can do is b*tch behind a computer then I have no respect for you because you don't have respect for yourself to stick up for something you strongly oppose or believe in. Just my opinion again, now I am off to class, have fun everyone

Actually, the Executive branch, which the President heads, has veto power over bills in legislative branch.

The Queen has no power over the British House of Lords or House of Commons, and neither does she have power over Canada's Parliament (House of Commons/Senate). I do have regular discourse with my elected (and appointed) reps.

Thanks, I don't "hide behind" anything. I find it disturbing that there are a lot of people that have little if anything different to say or do about what is happening politically.

If it takes a Canuck to stir up a bit of conversation (thoughtful or otherwise), the only sad part is that it's not being done by an American. Instead of poo-pooing what I have to say, read the first post, and then the rest that follow... If you disagree, point it out, back it up. Otherwise, take your sanctumonius griping elsewhere.

Discuss.

Hey I don't mind a canuck pointing things out. We may have different points of view Gam, sometimes completely different, but I still respect you and what you have to say.

Even if you are wrong.

*Paging Mr. Kettle... Mr. Kettle, Mr.Pot would like to speak to you...*

If I'm wrong, point it out and prove it to me, my ideas are flexible, my principles are not.

Ashley: BTW, welcome to the board, and the originating post was written by a registered Republican that lives in TX and voted against Bush both times.

Wow people that aren't even citizens of this country feel they have the right to criticize our government. That's just funny to me. Some people just amaze me.

And as a military member I find this offensive. Enough said!

Have a nice time bickering among yourselves
The United States is involved in business not their own all over the world, therefore, opinions from any country or the citizens thereof are relevant. As a military member, you should not be offended...you should question why so many others (non-US citizens) have formed certain opinions of the government that issues orders you obey.

Apart from the fact that he missed on one point (ie military service), you haven't answered hs question.

And for the record, I haven't said that Canada was perfect either.

Hey, I'm just sick of people that rally behind the flag, worship the constitution as they would the bible, and have their naso-anal interface well lubed up for their chosen political parties and the politicians, yet use it to undermine the freedoms of those they don't agree with.

Hypocrisy, pure and simple.

Speak for yourself. I welcome socialism with open arms. Your a perfect example of americas problem. Amaricans are so consumed with themselves they don't see the effect they have on other people. A country as a whole should support it's people.

You think people with lower incomes don't work?? Your so wrong. I make more than twice what my wife makes and I'd wager that she has to work 2x as hard as i do in her daily job while I sit at my job and write some code, go to meetings and adminster databases and websites. The government this year has taken over 30% of my income, another 15% goes to savings, and my 401K, if they took 50% in taxes and it meant that I didn't have to pay for my wifes healthcare because her companies plans suck!, and people who can't afford healthcare would have it lowering diesease rates and spreading sickness because they can't go see a doctor. I'd be all for it.

It doesn't matter how much I make a year I'd still vote democrat and support higher taxes because it would improve my quality of life. Lower crime rates, because people living below the poverty line wouldn't have to steal to get the necessities of life.

I'm not at six figures yet, but I'm 1/2 way there on my own.

People who make more SHOULD pay higher taxes because your able to consume more of the world and in retrospect should pay for it.

If you want to got on the 10K here 10K there. That person on the lower income level may need to buy the truck to do his job that doesn't reimburse him for vehicle expenses on his 80hour per week job that he gets paid minimum wage for.

How dare you make your comments. It's people like you and Bush with your egotistical thinking that got our country (yes I sad OUR because it's everyones) into the economical strife were facing today. How long before people like you realize that it's not about YOU, it's about everyone.
