Thank you, Thank you, Colin Powell

This is something that everyone(esp radical Republicans but everyone really) needs to see/hear. Yes he is endorsing Obama in this clip - but that is ironically the least important thing he says here IMO.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22425001/vp/27265490#27265490

He makes a lot of excellent points all at once. And yes is has been and still is a lifetime Republican. All the more reason people should see this.

Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in
America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the
country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along,
whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist
dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the
leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and
denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the
same in any country. - Hermann Goring

I forgot to add this other clip(him after that interview). Watch the clip I linked to first though.

I have to say I'm impressed with Powell coming out and supporting Obama. He drives home some tremendous points, especially the Muslim argument. What's wrong with being a Muslim? It's truly disturbing that people think you have to be a Christian to run this country. I think Powell expresses what a lot of people are feeling with this election and why many people from the right are slowly moving toward supporting Obama. The fact is that the negativity that McCain is using to attack Obama simply isn't working and is quite sad. Even when you look at the video of the woman who tells McCain that Obama is a Muslim at one his rallies, all McCain could respond with was "No mam, he's a good American." While he may not have meant it this way, it certainly does give the impression that somehow being a Muslim would have made him less of an American. And now this crap with Palin talking about the "real America" is just quite sad. In any case, I think Powell may sway some voters, especially those who were starting to lean toward Obama but have trouble separating themselves from party lines.

Yeah when i saw this i was really relieved! a lifelong republican coming out and supporting a democrat is very surprising, I think the reason he did it is because of all the crap that has been going on. I thought the reason people came to the US was for freedom of religion, so why would it be a big deal if Obama was a Muslim? Also everyone is like "oh no, hes a terrorist"! really? how much of a stupid retard can you be? How would anyone allow him to be in congress or let alone running for president if he was? Its so easy to get educated, but them good ol redneck inbred failures at life still think that white is the color people should be!

If more Republicans where like him, their party would be in alot better shape right now. Hell, so would the nation. The Republican party really needs to come back to the center instead of almost exclusively occupying the extreme right end. Sure you have a few Dems in the extreme left end, but the majority of the party is in the center - exactly where they need to be.

And I also must LOL every time Palin wants to call Obama a "socialist" - since I recall she is Governor of a state that while it votes red, is in actually the most socialist state in the union in terms of how it is ran. For example - the state owns the oil fields and gives all the citizens a free check as a result. Sounds like socialism to me...

No - he is the world's biggest @!#$ idiot. Anyone who saw that interview and STILL thinks its about race just needs to be shot to get their massive stupidity out of the gene pool. NOW.

And no I don't think Rush is gonna vote because of race. He is gonna vote strictly on party lines. He may as well tattoo a elephant onto the inside of his anus. He probably already has one on the inside of his eyelids.

If Powell was gonna endorse out of race, then he would have done so early in the race, if not the primary. I don't think Obama has changed races since the start of the race - so far as I know...

Voting according to race is something STUPID people do - and Four-Star General Colin Powell is anything but stupid. He knows his @!#$ and he loves America. He choose what he believes is best for America. I'd like to see Rush actually play the entire clip of his interview uninterrupted, and actually rebuttal the points Colin Powell made.

I'd like to see even the slightest evidence that this decision was racially motivated. This sounds no different than leftists claiming that any white person who votes for McCain is only doing so because of race. Proof once again that Republicans and Democrats come from the same mold.

No, the butt hurt one is Rush, because a Republican icon respected throughout America choose... a Democrat. (GASP!!)

well, i have to say, i don't think race had anything to do with it, as a "republican" Gen Powell has never been a stalwart.... but he does act on what he believes.

that said, go read Gen. Schwarzkopf book, and see what he thinks of Powell.

its ok. some ignorant people just wont change. their stupid racists beliefs however, will as they die off. the world gets a little bit better every day. for the record, im white and from the south.

how many wars would be averted if everyone believed in the same religion and were the same color? problem is there isnt just one of each. ignorant people choose to fight over it and people always end up getting killed. its ok though eventually the ignorant people will be gone and the world will be better off.

ill prob be dead by then but it will happen.

Not even one.

We would just fight them for different "reasons." But the REAL reason we fight wars would remain - GREED. All wars are to profit the leaders of any given group. Stuff like race, religion, nationality , fear, etc - those are just things they use to rally the ignorant masses aka commoners. One can ALWAYS be replaced with another.

The ignorant people will never be gone until we are all gone.

Powell is probably the main reason we did not take out Saddam during desert storm. He is a republican and a military man and makes up some crap why he is voting for Obama and yo ubelieve him? He sounds confused to me. Glad I am not a Republican or Democrat voting for the evil of two lessers. We will continue to be raped until we get independents in charge of Washington.

Nope we didn't take out Saddam and occupy Iraq in desert storm - which is retrospect was the correct choice and one that was unfortunately revisited by GWB. He wasn't "making up crap," did you even watch the videos you commented on and/or do any real research on your own? Probably not.

I'm all about independents and such - but I don't think Obama is the lesser of two evils - I think he is actually a good choice for once that actually has a shot at winning(I don't plan on that happening too many times in my life). For the record I also like Barr quite a bit. Pre-"running for president McCain" I liked. Bizzaro-McCain I cannot stand. For Palin I shutter...
