I think it's more an issue of respect.
When Immigrants, like myself, come to North America, they SHOULD adopt the language that the MAJORITY of the country speaks. It's a respect issue, show that you care about the country you move to by learning their language. The majority should not have to adapt to suit your requirements.
I've done it, it's really not that hard, and now (10 years later) people hardly believe me when I tell them that I wasn't born here. The only way they can tell is when I say three...
