would this piss you off?

A friend of mine on facebook recently wrote this rant about toyota recalls. What she said about germans pissed me off a little bit. My family immigrated a LONG time b4 WW2, and my grandfather served our country during that time. This is what she wrote. (Also, I put this in war forum so we can have a little fun with the recall part of it.)

Stop people and think for yourself! If you are paying attention, you'll see this for what it is...absolutely ridiculous. I'm seriously upset with the American Government for trying to sarcrifice Toyota when this has never happened before to this extent. You may have forgotten how many people died due to Firestone's faulty tires, but never was there a court hearing to take an American owned company down in such a humiliating way as we have been doing to Toyota executives. I'm not saying that what has happened to people due to Toyota's negligence is okay, in case you aren't the sharpest pencil in the box and think that in some way I am condoning Toyota. Some people can only read a sentence at a time and then overreact. So I will do my best to speak in simple terms so that the minority that falls low in the Intelligence Quotient Bell Curve will understand all the words that I am saying. Should I leave a link to an online dictionary in case people don't understand the bigger words like 'condoning'? It's not like condoms at all. Just saying... http://www.merriam-webster.com/

Back to the topic...Some basic things to point out:
--The US Government owns Ford. Say that a couple of times until it sinks in. The United States of America owns Ford now. Remember? The United States Government feel its best for them to crucify Toyota for their recent missteps. I am not excusing the terrible situation, keep up if you can. Did I mention that the US Government owns Ford? Okay, just checking. http://www.merriam-webster.com/

--Not they feel it's their job to protect all of us from Toyota. Toyota, has become a big bully to us apparently and the US Government who is 'objectively' evaluating them. Wait, GM has recalls? Shhhh!!! That's the blip on the news. http://www.merriam-webster.com/

--Next point is...Downplaying the GM recalls!!! Wait is GM short for German Managed. Nope, but close. There are probably a few German Americans that work there, but this is...ding, ding, ding...YES! An American company!!! But, are they are part of the American Inquisition?? NOOO!!!!!!http://www.merriam-webster.com/

In summation, I hope that you will see this situation for what it is. This is propaganda and it's working!!! Toyota had a 9% drop in sales while Ford, GM had a huge spike in sales.

I like the idea of American companies doing well, but not at the expense of a great company who only recently messed up. Still reads, not okay to those that are slower. This is a witch hunt and who can win against a country like the United States?

Don't let Ford win just because we can't think for ourselves!!! Ford needs to make a decent car that compares to Japanese and German cars, not because we feel we have to be patriotic and choose a so-so car because it's American. By far, Japanese cars have been the best cars for years and just because they recently screwed up doesn't mean we just dismiss them as if they were purposely negligent. They have humbly admitted to the mistake and have been addressing the issue. Be patient, 'I want it perfect now' America, and let Toyota have a chance to redeem themselves. We can be sooo fickle as a nation. fickle can be found at: http://www.merriam-webster.com/

what exactly about the German comments upset you? I'm German and nothing in that rant was offensive in any way IMO.

And I would agree with alot of what she wrote.

So you mean they dont upset you because you brush it off easily, or it means something different to you?

Well, I guess I'm still trying to figure out what the comments meant to you that would have upset you.

The way I'm reading it, it sounds like she is likening GM to VW when they were a "state sponsored" company in Nazi Germany. That doesn't sound like a knock on Germans to me. Sounds more like a comparison. She even goes on to say towards the end that US car companies should aim for the quality of German produced vehicles. That sounds like a compliment to me.

If she is too stupid to realize that Ford was the only one to not take a bailout and that the government has no money invested in Ford, than her argument is pointless.

your friends a @!#$ moron. The US govt. doesn't own any part of Ford motor company. IIRC Ford & Firestone got raked over the coals by congressmen and senators and the Media just like GM & Chrysler when they were asking for bailout money.

Sigh. Who cares what some uneducated person writes on FB.

Suggestion: Find something better to do with your time than rail on what someone without a clue writes. I don't know who to pity more: her for her cluelessness, or you for convincing yourself it could matter. At lest she felt strongly enough about a real set of issues to voice her opinion. You, on the other hand, are completely wasting your and others' time by 'analyzing' her drek.

ding ding ding we have a winner, ford and firestone both i beleive were raked over the coals by the goverment when this happend, she seems to have her head stuck up toyotas butt to far to notice things that are happening with other car companies. i'd have to point this out to her myself just so she isnt spreading more lies then she allready is

as for the german refrence i didnt really see any vicious attacks she made, just stupidity.

I agree with everyone. From the second paragraph she showed me how ignorant she is of the situation. The German remark is rather confusing simply because she doesn't know how to write. I celebrate my German heritage and I really didn't get where to be offended, especially with someone that incapable of solid thought. I bet she has a prius and probably is pissed because now the glorious god given saint of a hybrid actually has a problem.

Maybe its me but I though Ford and Firestone were dealt with far worse than Toyota? Maybe its because I don't watch as much tv as I used to.

she said "is it German Managed, no".

basically, she's saying that while GM is an American company, the American Government isn't doing anything to protect them like they are doing for Ford (as if GM were a foreign company). she's just saying it in a really retarded way. as for her saying "German American", it was the first (and probably only) country she could think of that started with the letter "g". i have 75% German heritage (damn proud of it), and wasn't offended by her reference at all. probably because the rest of her rant was so stupid that it wasn't hard to brush off an ignorant reference. ignorant can be found here: http://www.merriam-webster.com/

besides, at the end of her rant she did say that Germans make better cars than Ford.

Fords the only American auto manufacturer that didnt take money from the government LOL

Anyone remember when people where saying Audi's where having this acceleration problem and when it was looked into they found out that there was nothing wrong with the cars and people where actually hitting the gas instead of the brake and it was 100% driver error? I have serious doubts about toyota being at fault right now.

I dont see anything offending in what she typed.... she is actually correct to a point in if it where a US owned company our government wouldn't be breaking there balls as much, but she came off as a tard. Just have some fun and tell her that she should buy a Volvo because Swedish meatballs are awesome, it should be good at least for a laugh.

Ya, but not as much as Toyota is, but close.

i was thinking ford and firestone got it allot worse because they were fighting over who was to blame, both playing the pointing game, where as with toyota, toyota came out and said, yeah we screwed up. but it was a while ago. i think toyota is just getting much more attention because of the amount of cars involved. so the news is jumping at it and showing it allot more.

This toyota crap will pass and they will realize it was something really stupid (most likely the driver) that caused it just like anything else.

There always has to be someone for us to be pissed at or blame, its just the way it works.

i dont think so on this one. im sure toyota would have debunked it by now if it was just user error. not to mention they found emails or letters stating they new it could be an issue but they let it go. i think that was the biggest downfall for toyota was having that come up.

If thats true that Toyota actually decided not to act early then the reputation really is hurt. No because of the "oh its a big company that doesn't care" approach but because they were looked at as the total opposite. Its more of a double whammy if that is the fact.

The things is, that Toyota is claiming no responsibility in most of these cases. They said the floor mats could cause a problem but are completely denying the throttle problems... and I mean flat out denying it. There getting to the point that they are starting to give people the middle finger and telling them to go away LOL..

hmmm i havnt seen anything recently. may have to do some digging, i thought they allready took the bullet on it, will be interesting to see if they are now denying it.

Ya there starting to take a stand, you can tell that they are starting to get pissed because every tom dick and harry is blaming them for thier speeding tickets, and the whole time they havnt found any evidence that the electronic throttle control is to be at fault.

Toyota is getting hammered because they did not report the problems to the US government in a timely manner. They recognized the problem and decided to gloss over it hoping it would go away. The Ford/Firestone problem was addressed quickly as soon as the problem was recognized.

Toyota is not getting fined because they have a dangerous product, but rather that they didn't report it when it was recognized.
