uhhh yeah and they came from outside the u.s. my point being the U.S. has strict security and no bombers have gotten on the plane. outside the U.S. has less restrictions and bombers get on the plane. you might want to take your oh snap back.

my point is this: that before the nudie scan--which I feel is an invasion of privacy, an unreasonable search and seizure, and a violation of; you know, that constitution, that there were ZERO bombers on board US aircraft.

TSA itself, as tested by the federal government, has a 70% failure to detect. I will accept random bag checks; I will accept the wand, I will accept the metal detector, however for this agency to be allowed to see me nude, my wife nude, someone's children, nude, a nun, nude, a priest nude. that is too far; it is unreasonable, because no one has EVER EVER EVER gotten (strike that, DETONATED), a bomb aboard a US departing aircraft. (i strike ONLY because of the 70% failure rate and will submit that a bomb may have been brought aboard an aircraft fruitlessly.)

the TSA specifies that this scanner will be used to detect firearms; (*ron white well @!#$ face*) so will a metal detector. 100% nonferrous firearms do not, and will not, ever exist. still; with a 70% failure to detect rate (see the case before of the guy getting his loaded .40 pistol on board the aircraft and discovering it in flight), these scanners are just an excuse to invade privacy, waste money, and infringe upon OUR rights in the future.

SEVENTY PERCENT FAILURE TO DETECT.

would you trust a surgeon with a seventy percent failure rate?

then again...we do own j-bodies...

aw balls.

have you actually seen a picture of what the scans look like nude? sorry not even close. if you call nude grey blobs that have the outline of you. kinda like clothes do. some lady walking thru the scanner with spandex pants and a tight fitting shirt are going to pretty much look exactly the same on the scanners. people take the whole nudie picture thing way to far. you lose allot more freedoms with someone going thru you bags then when they see the grey blob picture from the scanner. whats funny is the same people had this argument when metal detectors came out.

so your argument is that since the tsa has a 70% failure rate that it shouldn't do all it possibly can to lower that percentage? if a surgeon had a 70% failure rate would you prefer them keep on doing what they are doing? or would you prefer they go back, learn more and come back with more skill???

Um, yes, that is what I would prefer.

a better comparison would be: would you want a police officer to give you a strip search every time you get pulled over, even for a routine traffic stop or at a check point, regardless if you were doing anything suspicious or not? because thats closer to whats happening than the surgeon analogy.

that happens when you cross the borders. random searches.

random is completely different than every time. my point still stands: would you want a strip search to be mandatory every time you got pulled over for speeding or running a red light or other minor traffic infractions? or what if they did that to everyone that crosses the border...do you feel that would be overboard and an invasion of your privacy? because thats what the people who are against this are saying.

to do it when your in your own personal car no, hell if i want to blow up my own car or hijack my own car i can pretty much do that myself at home. kinda like if im watching the president at home on tv i dont expect to get searched. but if im going to see the president in some town hall meeting or in person i'd expect to be searched.

again, thats different than what i asked. seeing the president isnt the same as boarding any random plane. and saying that you shouldnt be searched when in your private car vs boarding a plane makes no sense either. so youre saying its ok to search anyone on a privately owned form of transportation? maybe we could institute these checks on all greyhounds too

Re: Dont touch my junk, TSA Scanners

exactly. airlines are private vehicles, operated by government regulation--your car is a private vehicle, operated again by government regulation.

your feet and a bicycle are private modes of transportation; but if walking outside of your house, you--in this mindset--are subject to a strip search, at any moment, at any time, just because the government provided you a sidewalk, or a crosswalk, or a street, or that a police officer can just see you.

not because there is just cause that you are going to commit a crime; but just because you are there.

if there is no reason to search me, then the government can not search me. it's the 14th amendment. it is unreasonable and unconstitutional to search people, "just because."

TSA full body scanners and pat downs infringe upon this 14th amendment; because of all of the air travelers that pass through them, the majority of people have no reason to be searched. They thereby presume, and thereby accuse, imply and unreasonably search without just cause, or even reasonable suspicion that air travelers are ALL bombers and hijackers.

post 9/11 i was searched, in my dress blues, made to take off my ribbons, ranks, badges, and shoes. i was forced to denigrate my uniform; the men who died for that uniform; the constitution, ideals, and fundamental rights that my uniform represents.

why?

because apparently this government agency believes they are above those symbols; above the constitution, and above my rights.

and apparently, they are--they operate outside the law; so they have no reason, no need, to uphold OUR symbolism, OUR constitution, or OUR rights.

TSA is a pseudo-domestic enemy. I can not, in good honor to my oath of enlistment, willingly digest their operation. I write my representatives, I utilize my 1st amendment rights, to defend my 14th amendment rights. The caveat though, is that as long as there is a president or an officer above me that requires me to travel by air, I have to, begrudgingly, cooperate with TSA.

at least that's how I feel.

It's precisely this kind of mindset that is the product of, yes, I'll call a spade a spade in this instance...utterly useless paranoia. You are allowing the reasonable (searches where the welfare of many are at stake) to let you propose the unreasonable. What you mention here is ludicrous, and not at all an effective argument. I could apply the same line of thinking to anything, and it remains just as ludicrous:

ATF controls alcohol, therefore I am afraid of them taking it away forever.
FDA controls the safety of our food supply, therefore I fear I may starve.
DEA controls drug traffic, so I may be imprisoned in my home lest I acquire drugs via freedom of movement.

See how this works? All just as extreme as your examples, and all just as unlikely. You're whipping yourself into a uselss frenzy over imagined, bizarre scenarios, and vainly attempting to justify such a perspective via citing currently acceptable tactics of security.

YOU may be this gullible, to believe that reasonable approaches will ultimately lead to complete control ...thankfully, I am confident the majority of us are not.

so why havn't you guys been screaming that metal detectors at the airport are invading your freedoms???? how are they diffrent then the scanners. how can you say checking you with a body scanner is wrong but metal detectors or seatblets in your cars are okay?

if people start hijacking greyhounds and blowing up buses and driving buses into mass crowds of people i'd problby be okay with checking buses too.

Ok, so a couple days ago the TSA said they are going to be testing a new software update for the scanners that do not show pictures of an individual, but rather highlight an area of concern that should be investigated. Still have concerns if this becomes the standard?

Also, of those that have flown, who has gone through the enhanced procedure? I've flown twice in October, twice in November, twice in December, and four times in January. I've been scanned/patted down 0 times. With the outrage that was going on, you'd think they were taking naked pictures of every person at the airport and posting them on the internet.

the thing is i think allot of people actually believe they are actual naked pictures and theres this single man in a private booth jerking off to them. its just utterly rediculous.

last time i flew i got randomly pulled aside and had my fingers swapped to check for explosives. it held me up maybe a minute. so that means i sat around waiting for the plane for 34 minutes instead of 35. heck if they could get the machines so i dont have to take off my shoes or take my belt off or empty my pockets id be all over that. that to me is more intrusive on my time then just walking thru a machine.

I've had the finger swipe thing done, but that was before the "enhanced" procedures. It didn't hold me up at all. The agents were just walking through the line as you were waiting to get to the x-ray machine / metal detectors. They'd swipe your finger, stick the swab in the device, wait a couple seconds for the reading and then move on. They didn't pull you out of line at all to do it.

That's funny, this was in Orlando as well, but more than a year ago. I know the corrals you are talking about, I was last in Orlando in the end of December. I think this was before they had those set up. I remember it being the longest security line I've ever seen at an airport though. The lines just to get up to the point where they check your ticket and ID were so long for both the A and B terminal sides that they were running into eachother in the middle of the atrium area of the hotel. I felt like I was at Disney waiting to go on a ride.

yeah dude same place, this was in october and yeah the lanes were unbelievable. we got up about 50' from the machines and they all the sudden started closing lanes and having you scoot over to this side or that side it was like so unorganized. luckily the kid and wife got thru as he was closing the lane on me so i got to slide up with them and they routed like 3 lines into 1.
