street racing....
Friday, February 25, 2005 5:04 PM on j-body.org
Ok, i have read a few posts about street racing in this site, and i know that it is a very split conversation, like good and evil going head to head. i am from the south east coast of the USA, and in bigger cities, street racing is very big. some if not all law enforcement agencies have specific units and undercover marks for street racing. I agree.... street racing is dangerous. it is risking lives.... but you guys have to look at the bigger picture. where did our culture, our way of life come from........... the streets... i don't agree with racing on roads with traffic, or anywhere where we could hurt an innocent person. Most street racers know places where there is no traffic, no innocent people to hurt and that is where it goes down. in industrial parks, biz parks, empty parking lots. hell i have even went as far as having roads blocked to race.. There is no point in building a 200 plus hp car and not pushing it to its limits, just have some brains about it, don't endanger others, and just have fun.

Ummm, I think the safest places to drag race a car is probably on a drag strip. I've heard of far too many people dying while just watching the races to agree with you.

the track limits your car to reaching its full potential... you all drive 4 bangers..... how many times have you been at 140 mph on the track? and what about us that dont have access to a track?

Go to a road course then. It's simple. On public streets you cannot predict what will happen. The other people involved did not volenteer to be put in danger, and EMS is not standing by. There are safe ways to race, none of them are on public steets, period.

At the limit means just that, if you need to correct or compensate you cannot because you are already at the limit. That is why the only safe place is the track. They are designed so that if something goes wrong you will not hurtle into poles, people, oncoming traffic, buildings, fire hyrdants, curbs, dogs, signposts, etc etc etc.

no need to go over 100 mph on a public road. that is just asknig for trouble
and if something happens at the track, there is EMS and fire crews standing there to help you. you get none of that on the street. and most races are over by 80 to 90 mph anyway.
Billy G, i see from your posts you are from Jacksonville Florida?
if you are having trouble finding a drag strip in your area do a search on the net for one. its easy. here now all of those are not drag strips. im sure you can call some of those and they can help you
or even click here.
now if a guy over 1000 miles north of Florida can find a drag strip in your state. so can you

there is a few drag strips in my state, there is even one about 15 miles from my house, but they do not provide EMS or fire crews, and it is in the middle of no where, the only thing they have is one guy that has no emergency equiptment there, i used to go to this track all the time untill my wife that i love very much had a ceasure and she stoped breathing and her heart stoped... this @!#$ up just stood there.. i had to revive her my self, since then i have not been back to that @!#$ hole and the closest one is in st louis. im not here to justify my actions, just maybe tone down the negativity twords those of us who choose to street race in controled environments. see people are all nice and will talk to ya untill you mention street racing, then the just want to start being beligerant twords ya. i just want everone to see a point of view so we can still have intelegent conversations.

See, the problem with thinking that you're in a "controlled" street race is just plain silly. Why?

Simple.

1. Tracks are swept at least once a day, if not between each heat or even between runs.
2. Tracks don't usually have Cross-traffic, or on-coming traffic to deal with.
3. Everyone at a track knows that they're there, and that they are not safe unless they keep their wits about them, and even then, they're not 100% safe. Ie. they have their head in the game.
4. Tracks have safety fences in most cases.
5. Tracks don't have transport trucks grinding down the track surface on a daily basis.
6. If you crash on a Track, someone KNOWS you've crashed, and can respond, versus on the street where people tend to scatter when there's a wreck because they don't want to get a ticket... bollocks to whoever got gibbed in the wreck.

I'm sorry if you don't have access to a decent track or ambulance/paramedic service, but running nights on the road is still just begging for problems...Irrespective of what happened with your wife (and I have to say that I'm pretty appaled that someone will just stand idly by and watch), I don't care how much you want to make it seem like you're skilled or professional at driving like a maniac on the road, you're going to find out very quickly about your illusions. Street racing involves too many variables to be considered anything approaching safe, a track eliminates most of them. The less you have to consider when things go sideways, the more likely you are to avoid trouble or a wreck.

Racing on the street is just plain foolish...

That was basically my point...

Plus, going to a track makes it a lot easier for you to AVOID tickets

jbody4jc: if you think that it's hating on street racing, you've never lost a friend in a race or because of a race.

It's kind of like saying there are too many people hating on Satan.

Very good scenario, but back in the day (has nothing to do with street racing) People were having sex without protection but now that AIDS is so big and threatens our way of life today, smart people use condoms!

lmao

On a more serious note, there's no logical excuse for street racing. But some people are too dumb to accept that.

billy wrote that... billy did u know tires have ratings??? infact a tires is only rated to go soo fast weather on a track or behind my house. More than likely you and your vin diesel buddies dont even have tires that are even close to compareable to something that would b considered "safe" at those type of speeds your talking. B4 you wanna even think of street racing AT LEAST make sure your safe.

Past few weeks have been a blur, really...

Last thing I clearly remember was taking lines off this 18yr olds D-cups while her bible group study partner was massaging my inner thigh. That was Valentines Day.

Ya... and apparently I went to Vegas... I have pictures.

Inbetween my drug induced laps of consciousness I'm pretty sure I really didn't do that much... well, you know, comparitavely...

You?

qwiksilver, first off your fast and furious remarks are as lame as the movie, and pretty dated if i do say so. your not talking to some kid that has no clue what he is doing either, so step off man and work on your insults a lil bit..

street racing really does not end tragic often. according to the fatality analysis reporting system, from 1998-2001 there were 149,451 fatal accidents. of these accidents, 315 (.21 involved street racing. this figure makes it seem as if street racing involved fatalities are very insignificant.
