Jay Leno's Turbine-Powered EcoJet Concept Introduced at SEMA
General Motors Vice President Global Design Ed Welburn (left) and Tonight Show host Jay Leno introduce the mid-engine, turbine-powered EcoJet concept at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, Nevada Monday, October 30, 2006. Leno invited the GM Advanced Design Studio to help design the 650-horsepower concept that runs on bio-diesel fuel. Ecojet's genesis goes back to napkin sketches during a discussion between Leno, Welburn and Gernard Juchli - chief mechanic and caretaker of Leno's automobile collection. Juchli and the entire Big Dog team at his garage built the vehicle after an extensive design study with GM's North Hollywood, California Design Studio.
