My 02 is a LS sport with the Z24 option. Sometimes I wish it had just been a regular LS sport when i looked at it, that way I would have never purchased it.

Somewhere around me is a "Z22 SS"

hah ive a few people floss a Z22 or a Cavalier SS... first thing i would do if it were me is rip them fake badges off =)

the 02 LS Sport with the Z24 option is an eco with 00 - 02 Z rims right? --- or is it a 2.4 with the LS Sport Rims and front/rear lip and skirts?

Its an early year 02 with the Z wheels and 2.4L. The Eco did not go in till mid year, thats when the Z24 option was dropped. the lip kit was the same, however apparently a few LSS Z24s did have the LSS wheels on them. Mine did not, unfortunately. As far as I know all coupe Z24/LSS cars had the same side skirts from 95-02, but I could be wrong. I know my 98 and 02 look the same.

All the LSS is, is a Z24 with the chrome split 5s and a 2.2 Eco. Not sure why the name change but GM must have had a reason.

i always thought the Z24 had a motor upgrade from the base model... but 03 - 05 all motors were ecos, so the LS Sport didnt have any more of "sport package" than the base

Well the sport package was the suspension, wheels, and appearance upgrades. Even when the Z24 had a 2.4L you could stil get a stripped down J with the 2.4L in it.

Yes SE stands for special edition, and LE stands for limited edition.... My dad still has a 93 Sunbird SE vert with a 3.1 and auto in it.... and its in pretty good shape. I myself used to have a 93 Sunbird LE 2-door with a 2.0l 5-speed.

No one ever said GM makes sense LOL..

Gran Tourismo is french for Grand Touring so it means the same thing and either is technically applicable.

Anyone remember the Grand Prix STE? those things where kinda rare, and it stood for Special Touring edition.... and a grand prix sure as hell isnt a touring car.

I believe GTP stand fro Grand touring package IIRC but could be wrong.

SS stands for Super Sport.

Not sure what WS6 stands for.

SHO stands for super high output

BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works.

For some reason It always bothered me if I didnt know what letters on cars stood for so I know a crap load of them.

If GTP is Grand Touring Package doesnt that mean essentially the same as GT which is Grand Touring which is also a package.

Id say its Grand Touring Performance since all GTPs had upgraded motors whether it was the 3.4L DOHC or the L67.
