I know if I get a tig welder, its going to be what they call the Miller briefcase welder. size of a briefcase, programmable, easy to carry, nice and concealed and very mobile. Granted it cant weld the heavy thick stuff, but it can weld exhaust, and charge pipes and body panels if need be.

That's an odd concept. I really don't see the point of something like that. Is the argon suppose to fit in that space too? If so, I doubt you'll get more than 10-30min of welding time, and the cost to refill will start to get expensive (argon itself is cheap, but the fees aren't). I think I get about 6-8 hours out of my 125cc tank.

I was in my office staring at the header and turbo, and decided to take pictures of them mating like elephants in the Serengeti

Thanks I'm super jealous of your clean engine bay. For me to have the patience of the tedious job of wire tucking and keeping ish clean, has yet to be seen lol. Ever thought of swapping in a 5 speed?

you can hook it to whatever size tank you want. its just small and portable. Its along the lines of this version but it was a little more advanced.

Thanks man, well I have too much money in my auto tranny to swap anything yet. Id like to see where this auto will take me as far as track times and HP. It held up fine for 303 hp. Much more to come this spring tho.

Took today as a "me" day and decided not to hangout with the gf after work so i can start getting ish done.

Pulled off the LD9 oil pump drive gear

and matched the 086 recast head to the Cometic head gasket. Took this picture before i finished though.

What copper head gasket spray are people using? Figured now would be a good time to invest in some before i forget.

I always use the permatex brand copper spray.

Freeze the end of the crank and heat the gear and drop it on and use a brass punch to lightly tap it into place. Just dont hit the teeth.

Yup, that's what I used on mine too and haven't had any issues.

i honestly wouldnt remove much material for the head. that 086 is going to flow a lot. i would just smooth the combustion chambers, smooth the exhaust ports and valve openings, and smooth just the valve openings on the intake side. then a 3 angle valve job. done.

if you have the cash i would have the chambers, valves, and exhaust ports thermal barrier coated then cryotreat the whole thing.

Well, some good news. Not much of an advancement but good news non the less. The @!#$s at Jiffy Lube that killed my Mazda? Well.....

Still thought it was funny they gave me $20 towards an oil change at one of their other unqualified locations in the K-W area.

But, the letter from them sparked some joy in me, and i ordered some ADDCO sway bars for the Sunfire.

Last i heard, the shop that was going to be doing all my machine was still rather busy, so no news on that front as of yet. I'm going to drop by and see whats going on and when i can get my head worked over, block bored, and crank polished/knife edged.
