just wax your windshield real good every once n awhile... the rain beads right off. LOL and you can ditch another 10lbs. if that

Are you scared of the changes coming? The answer is on the inside.
I cant remember if this has been asked or not. But why are you using the stock tranny bushings and not the urethane inserts? Everything else is soild.

not sure where you got that from, because i'm not using stock trans bushings, they are prothane inserts.

The thing is, the Skwirl's only real removeable weight left is stuff like the wipers, which, if you'll notice, is weight over the front wheels. Not where you want to remove weight from in a FWD drag car.

im sorry but the gm drag cars do just fine without the wipers and motor, i think the skwirl doesn't need that 10lbs for traction
ahahahaha

to counter, I dont think the 10 lbs of weight will be an issue for the Skwirl, nor will the wiring be an issue for PJ...

thats the free mount I got from the junkyard, I swapped it with my mounts when I was putting the engine in the car (it makes for a convenient handle when shimmy-ing)
update for an awsome thread?

Holy #h!t....this massive thread ate up almost an ENTIRE work day to read!!! Great reading material for an absolutely DEAD christmas eve workday.....KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!
so what did the squirrel get for christmas?

Lanman31337 -F = fatties = do not want. A little chunk in the junk is ok though.
I got some electrical connectors, nothing big.. but I do plan on spending my xmas vacation working on the car and hopefully mounting the relay box in the glove compartment.
updates coming soon. Hope everyone had a good Christmas
made an order for the fuel filters, some fuel fittings, and the new bulkhead connectors for the fuel cell.
I also made the decision to eliminate the c100 plug (body interface plug). It would make no sense to keep it, and took up entirely too much space. I used an MSD deutsch style connector, and spade connectors for the large wires instead. A LOT cleaner, simpler, and smaller.
Now that the holidays are over, the skwirl project is back on track 100%
So does this mean the wiring is done?
no where close, but its looking a lot less complicated than the stock nightmare. I'd say wiring is about 35% completed.
there's one more component I need to get in order to hook the fuel pump up electronically but other than that I have everything I need for wiring purposes.
You gonna have thw Skwirl ready for the Bash?

sorted through more of the wiring today.. noticed the remainder of the dashboard was in my way so I removed it.
I'm going through the body harness bit by bit, eliminating everything I don't need. all the airbag wiring is being yanked out, class 2 communication wires, etc.
Its coming along nicely.. a bit haphazard at the moment, but I'm getting there. Spent about 3 hours working on the car after work.
pics tomorrow night.
so no pics yet but update.
after having some more frustration with the stock wiring, i decided to take the same approach I used with the engine harness. I removed the dash harness and will be dissecting it over the next few days in work.
once I fully remove the airbag system, ABS, and anything else I deem unnecessary, I'll be reassembling whatever is left.
I'm also seriously contemplating eliminating the entire HVAC system. Blower motor, vents, everything. My way of thinking is if I need HVAC in order to be comfortable in the skwirl, I probably shouldn't be driving it. (no more cold, no more extreme heat).
I'm waiting on my backordered fuel parts, so I'm tackling the crap out of the wiring.
definitely ditch he heater box man, that thing aint light.
so basically if you ditch the HVAC all you gotta do is put a rubber nipple plug over the vacuum port in the TB for it, yes?

Pretty sure whatever TB he's using isn't going to have that port anymore anyway... And if it does, any plug is going to need to be clamped- remember, we're talking about a pressurized intake tract now...

ok guys, a bit of an update.
here's the simplified relay box. I yanked a LOT of wires out of here (since I'm not reusing the HVAC, a few fuses and a relay got tossed, as well as the associated wires.
much nicer now.. add 3 large jumpers, 1 large wire coming off, and 9 smaller wires coming off of it and it would look closer to stock and a lot messier.
quick people will notice that the fuel pump relay is missing. The aeromotive fuel pump controller replaces the relay with solid state circuitry, and speed control for the pump.. kinda like a 'stand alone computer' for the pump. It slows the pump down depending on a few variables that escape me at the moment, but when you give it the beans, the computer senses that and quickly gives the pump full power.
it also has an override switch that I can wire into the dash, and when I flick the switch to the ON position, the controller will bypass itself and give the fuel pump 100% power.
I'm also tying in a few other features into this one switch, (like arming the launch control button on the steering wheel, and maybe a higher boost setting) so that when I flick it a number of systems are activated.. a so-called 'race' switch, or button.
anyway, here's the dash harness. It looks a mess, but I have it pretty well sorted out.
the ABS wiring is completely removed, the brake light switch (i broke it) has the TCC/ cruise release plug removed since I have neither of those things, the gauge cluster plug is removed, but I retained the left and right turn indicator wires so I can hook up LEDs or small lightbulbs so I still have an indication on the dash board somewhere.
A majority of the HVAC and blower motor wiring has been removed from the dash harness, but it has a sub harness thats still in the car. I plan on removing that when I take the heater box out sometime over the course of the next few days.
The BCM wiring that isn't used is snipped, and once I get the fuse box door from the skwirl, I'm going to remove as much as I can from the fuse box to simplify the hell out of this harness.
one question, wheres the cd player going?
