Where can I find an intake manifold for my 2002 ecotec? I have searched this forum and the net and all I can find are ones for the 2.4s and 2200.

custom made or rsm... if you searched you prob should have come across the gm thing...

go to any GM dealer ask for the ecotec build up book... has all parts to make the engine up to 1000 hp...

intake manifolds ARE NOT cheap...

supply and demand... alot of people here want this and that, but when it comes out people back out...hence the cost will be high...

the one for the 2.4 is 1200$ <br>

The intake manifold from GM is 1200? Why such a big difference from the one from domesticperformance.com? 249.99$

the manifold from induction dynamics is a 1200$ manifold.

why? custom made, flows better.

the manifold from the link you put up is basically a stock manifold with a small lip removed which you can do yourself... the stock "ported" manifolds arent really ported... the simply dremel or remove the lip from the openin where the TB goes... so basically you pay for 5 min or less of work which you can do yourself.....and a stock manifold

http://www.j-body.org/forums/search.php?f=2&search=ported+intake&globalsearch=0&match=1&date=0&fldsubject=1

now if you are serious, this is what 1200$ pays for. <img src="http://www.induction-dynamics.com/images/products/id_intake_mani_done1a.jpg"> http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=181744&t=181736#reply_181744

or you can pay 250$ for a stock one that someone removed a plastic lip from...

thats debateable, especially since there are more than 10 intakes out there and all of them have different locations and directions...

on a rough run through...

1) you will remove the battery and unplugg it.
2) remove the stock filter box, there is one bolt under where the battery sat that bolts it down....
3) remove the box and rubber hose refer to the IAT SENSOR post at the bottom http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=2&i=215434&t=215434&start=25

4) some intakes connect to the black box on the 2200, some connect to the TB on the 95-97 2.2L, the eco and 2.4 have a black box it might connect to....

either connect it to the black box, or undo the hose clamp that holds the box to the TB and remove it and connect the intake to the TB...

intakes arent hard, you just have to look at it the intake, then look at the car and see where it will fit, everything else from there is self explanatory... remove stock intake system, replace with aftermarket.

and you are done. <br>

The 2.2 has some intake manifold love too.

<img src="http://www.hogansracingmanifolds.com/images/pic09.jpg">

But love hurts - 2.2 Chevy Cavalier $1200
@ http://www.hogansracingmanifolds.com

I want it. Who knows what it will do for a N/A engine(even with basic bolt-ons and P&P, it MAY(matter of opinion) not be worth it). But I bet it would rock on a good boosted setup(I'm goin turbo myself in 2 to 6 months TOPS, unless Murphy's law has its way).

It doesn't get much better than this. Obviously a very well designed intake manifold. And D@MM beutiful too. I'm always about function over form, however... Between THAT manifold and the Cavalier Connection turbo kit I've been eyeing, I'd be half-temped to leave my hood off.

<img src="http://www.cavalierconnection.com/Product%20Pics/Turbo%20Pics/Lg_Base_Turbo_kit2_lg.jpg">

Oh just look at that turbo header...

Yes, I'm an ambitious planner. But that manifold will have to wait. Boost(and many other things) come first.

<br>

I've never heard of this "part throttle" before. Does it just bolt on?

Thanks a lot for the help. I am getting an AEM intake pretty soon so well see how it works.

"thats the older 2.2 (95-97) ohv manifold aint it... if they rock a 2.2, 2200sfi one, i will def sport it" - I'm sure you COULD get it to work. But i can definitely see your point - buying a $1200 manifold not made specifically for your car. Maybe not. But I'm sure that if you contacted them, they would be happy to make whatever little changes are necessary to match up better to the 2200 head. For $1200, I don't think a little customization is out of the question. <br>

def not...

prob what i will end up doing is when i get the old engine off i can send them the head and the intake manifold from the stock engine thats in the car so they can have a model to design from...

prob would be easier that way... <br>

ok Event.....the dreaded "fart can".........when welded to stock oem pipes......is it more of a help or hinderance to overall hp/low end tq? <br>

Re: Performance FAQ (Read B4 posting) General over

depends on who you ask....

its less restrictive than the stock pipe so it can MARGINALY help...

but then again, the noise you normally get is asking for tickets cause too much sound can bounce around at the end....

so on that side it would be more hinderance trying to dodge tickets... mike george had that problem back in 2000-2001 or so... <br>
