Ok, i see its restrictive, but I was wondering if any one makes a aftermarket intake manifold for the ecotec's?
Beware the Rouge Dragon.
Yes there is currently one on the market made by Venom but its a "Drag" manifold and I am yet to find any dyno benches from it. They had another prototype but I dont think it was ever put into production.
damn you could buy a new car with those prices or have one custom CNCed

You're obviously just a dumb follower, no one has successfully argued against anything I've said, if you read everything in the thread.
That's a good point about the fuses, but why do all the car audio guys on here say that it helps a lot with headlight dimming(read:charging) to bypass the stock "wire" with 4 guage? That wire is quite a bit longer than your average fuse, maybe that's why.

heading out right now
i will post what i think of the mod
see ya!
well it is done and wow the hight of the ports are a good 3.24mm too small and width is like 3.75 too small
as far as power goes it pulls much harder above 3500rpm to redline. about the same change in power that the intake made
i noticed that it takes less pedal to take off from a light
see ya!
So, if an intake makes 5-10whp, then this makes a similar gain. What I said originally. Too many doubters on this board, why don't you all go out and try it yourselves! I'm only trying to give some good/free advice on a easy/free mod. Jeez, some people. Glad to see you tried it novaracer!
Wow cant belive i read this whole think. Couple of questions
Your other Elect in the car such as headlights dimming, couldnt this be controlled by getting a capacitor with your system?
Did your really get 4rwhp from an itake?
I have a grand am and wasent going to go with the AEM because i have to round out the opening to go into my fender. I have a 2004 and didnt want to start cutting but i think im going to.
Air / Fuel, i thought it comes down to basic's with this, the more air and the more fuel equals more power. The less restrictive anypart of your intake/exhaust is the more airflow, no?
(I also belive a car is like a computer, its only good as the worst part you have)
IM new to modding a 4 banger used to working on a 5.0. The ford 5.0 is a pretty basic motor so basic concepts apply.
for Who said they can get a couple hundred off of the venom intake, how much?
Please no liberal/democrat/left wingers (what this board moslty consists of) reply. All you do is bitch about a problem and dont come up with a solution..........cough ....cough...........Social Security
y didnt my sig work?

I am really happy that i did this mod. i think the car feels hyper, and i use way less throttle to get moving. And i noticed that the intake sound when i get on if sounds meaner.
see ya!
as for that venom
you might as well go buy gm's intake many that accepts the ls1 tb
i will try this mod
just want to get another intake many to try it on

good idea! also make a cardboard template for the port matching it will make the ports line up alot better. also you may need some epoxy just in case. there is a taped hole that has very little plastic over it. but no problem i have epoxied ports to fill voids and to reshape ports. i also made sure that i had no sharp edges and blended all the ports. rough cuts were made with a carbide cutter then a 80grit cartridge roll then a 120grit flap wheel. it's hard to make plastic smooth. but the engine breaths alot better and you can feel it!
see ya!
How much are you guys taking off the throttle body side?

sweetness
will double bubble work to fill the holes?
Can you give me all of the measurements so I can work with it? I don't have much experience working on intake manifolds, so I'm always open for advice.
I'll probably give it a try, but can 04firetec or novaracer explain the full thing.
thx

How are you going to do that?
The intake manifold won't fit a stock car. The radiator has to be pushed forward.
Where does the M.A.P. sensor go? How are you going to hook up the sensors at the t.b.?
With all the money you spend to get the gm one to fit, the Venom one WILL be cheaper.
And prob. more drivable.

you might think that i am crazy but remember in school when you would find old gum under the desk how hard it was
as far as explaining how to do it humm take the intake off and make a template with poster board or paper then transfer the port shape onto the intake then reshape the intake ports to match the cylinder head clean it up and reinstall the intake thats the basic and the best i can explain it
see ya!
well i have packets of an epoxy resin so it should work to fill the holes
how hard is it to get the manifold off?
not hard at all very easy
i did have to wiggle it to get it out and back in.
see ya!
