Maybe we could meet up and get that front end off the car for you together.
I do know the weekend of the 20th is a definitely not (audition for The Chase), and the next weekend, the 27th is only a maybe at this point.
Could you grab me all the all 2.0 emblems off the blue hatch car for me if you guys go back?
Thanks

Orlen-
You have a good size group project going here
Don't want your hopes to get too high there Wayne. A long trip planned for way in advance might be for nothing - these cars and trucks pop up and disappear all the time at this place. I had wanted to get both fenders and a grill off a 1st gen Ranger and a really nice bumper off the another back in the spring. Expecting to come home with parts in tow I got my feelings hurt...... 2 men were grabbing the best fender and grill when I arrived and the other truck with the great bumper was gone. I managed to get the passenger side fender that day - which happened to be the one I needed the most. Haven't seen a 1st Gen Ranger there since then either.
So if indeed the Z might happen to be there by the end of September there is a good chance someone will pick it apart before then.......even manage to grab half of the ground effects like one did that Ranger.
That is why I have to get what I can as I go along - I never know what to expect the next trip. Unfortunately I am tapped out myself till the middle of next month so the 1st Gens are at the mercy of the crusher and other interested parties up until then. Trust me that can get pretty frustrating sometimes!!
'92 I'll grab you those emblems if they are there next time around.
BTW they list the Front Header Panel at $43 (bare) Front Bumper Cover at $32, Front Lower Valance at $13.50.Rear Bumper lists $45.75 I don't know what the ground effects would cost - but the boys usually cut a better deal on the weekends.
Also I don't know personally how much trouble removing the ground effects are going to be. The doors are BADLY toasted at the bottom. It is hard to tell if the screws will come off easily or the heads strip at the first turn. There is some damage to the GE on the passenger side as shown in the photo , and the front bumper cover is scuffed .

I can say removing the front bumper cover and or rear and ground effects are a real task.I know I can strip those off fairly easy myself being well I have done it.That yard is about two hours from me and if I had time this week I would be all over that Z like a magnet.Next week though maybe a different scene on my possibilities.I have a z kit except the front bump cover and that has my interest as well.Btw I got my home computer back today and it had a small virus and a some malware in my network and it is fixed as I am typing lightning fast.I still have only used my tablet two times now and it will be a handy tool for me when in and out of the house with our wifi we have checking on parts for projects in my garage.I will post a pic of my new tablet later this week and yeah I need a case for it and some accessories.Tired I am.trucking just wears me out some days.

If it's anything like the local pick a part here they'll probably be there for a month tops. Here cars are usually gutted of use-able parts by the 2nd week, sometimes by scrappers
, especially the old GM 2 door models such as Cutlass, Monte Carlo etc... due to the weight of the metal. Some rarer cars tend to stay in the yard longer as not too many people own them and the ones that do travel from a distance to get parts. The Cadillac limo I mentioned a few pages back lasted about a month before it was crushed.
Well Orlen, the next thing I was going to ask about was their inventory list online, but I just checked it and the Z isn't listed; so it's either gone, or they don't really keep the online list up to date.
I was hoping they kept it up to date and would make more definite plans as the time approached, but since the Z isn't on there now, there's no sense in my trying to get there only to come up short.
Wayne they are LOUSY with inventory!!
Once I tried to tell them where I pulled my parts and they replied they didn't care since most people can't remember what they pulled their stuff off of.
I had a coworker that got FURIOUS with them too. He called them and they insisted they had a Nissan pickup he needed parts for -after an 90 minute drive he got there and - you guessed it....No Nissan. He blew his stack and they told him he wasn't allowed back.
So I just consider the place pot luck - if it is there and I'm there and I got enough money than all is good. But of course I've been "Junk-Yarding" most of my life and it has always been kinda like that. Before the price of scrap increased, though , many vehicles had a much longer stay in the yards.
.
There's no way any U pull it can keep an accurate inventory of parts, so no yard will care about that. But they can keep an easy inventory of vehicles and locations.
One near me has an inventory, and it hasn't failed me yet. They do mention "buyer beware" of the inventory on the site, stating that it may not be 100% accurate. They do a good job of it as far as I'm concerned though.
But yeah, your yard didn't list the Z that you have pictures of, so I'm not gonna bother with the trip.
Good day Ron,
I am interested for one stabilization bar,
Thank you for your time,
Pierre
Ok noted and I do have a spare one!! Let me get some other things in order in my garage (fixing wifes car) and once I get things done I will touch base on the item.R
First Gen Steering Wheel Porn.....
Nice work Ron!
Anyone figure out how he gets the metal polished up right to those edges without scuffing up the leather????
.
Thanks guys on the approval. As for my techniques just really carefull! Very long day and short it is.
Found a 87 cavalier convertible in Greenville SC this morning in a bone yard. Talked with the guy on shipping quite a few stuff and by the time the shipping comes out I can just drive up there and get the stuff myself.. So I'm going up to Greenville in the morning lol. I cant seem to find parts for my car in my state... Their just gone.
Hey Ron-
Nice job on that cluster!
REALLY nice find on that blue Sunbird Coupe. I dig the blue. You said the window molding was toast so the only thing I would be interested in is the big black molding under the front bumper if it was in good shape. How is the trunk lid - looks nice with the spoiler...
Is the hood vented? If so, I would like to get the pan that goes under the vents if it is there...
I think that is it for now...
Paul
I do not think the hood is vented on a quick recall. The rear trunk lid seemed ok with the factory low cut spoiler and the key lock was fine as the car still had the keys in the ignition.I will have to double check the front chin spoiler as I just kind of zipped around the car.The interior is actually pretty decent showing the normal use and dirty stuff.I know they are closed for the holiday and not sure about the 26th.Probably the earliest I could return would be the week after or like that Friday as they are probably closed the 1st.I guess if anyone shows more interest in the bird I can notate what the interest level is on my return. Thanks for the props on the cluster I think wayne will be satisfied.I know I am.
I was making it worth the wait wayne!! Glad you approve.I will probably ship next week in my free time.
That IC is "M I NT"
Ron you should have gone into the restoration business - with quality like that you'd have more work than you'd know what to do with my Friend!
On the other hand I don't know anywhere in the land you could ship a tired IC to and have it come out like this one!
