So, I'm a noob to wiring and stuff...does anyone have a guide on how to connect the remote turn on of my amp to my cars ignition?

I currently have my sub amp hooked up with a fuse tap, I THINK to the wipers. The bizzare thing is whenever I turn on my headlights, i get a little hum through my sub. What the heck would be causing this and will i notice any similar problems if I hook up my switched 12+ for my new HU to a fuse tap?

Your problem is that you have the sub amp hooked to a fuse tap to anything! Go buy yourself a amp wiring kit and hook it up properly before you start a fire. Your sub amp should be hooked directly to the battery, not tapped into anything.
haha, I guess I miscommunicated there! I only have the turn-on lead hooked up to the fuse tap... the real juice is flowing directly via the battery.

if you have an aftermarket deck you should be able to connect to the blue wire from that....

otherwise, choose a switched 12v like your windshield wiper fuse for the remote turn on

well, back to my original question...

My turn-on lead for my amp is currently on a fuse tap to my wipers. However, when I turn on my headlights/parking lights I get a gentle hum through my sub.

Now, when I have my aftermarket HU installed, I'm going to be switching the turn-on lead the blue wire coming out of the back of the head unit. THEN, I've been thinking about using the same fuse tap in the wiper fuse to turn on and off my new aftermarket head unit.

HERE'S THE QUESTION... A) Anyone have any clue what's causing the hum to my sub only when the headlights are on? and B) Should I be concerned when hooking my Excelon deck up the same way?

well, because it's currently a factory head unit, i had no option but to use hi-level inputs. my Excelon has a sub rca out with 5.0V... I plan to run it opposite side of my power lines and along together with my signal cable for my Sirius tuner

Why not look into using a high to low level converter. Several companies make them, and in fact, you can get your hands on one at Wal-Mart for less than 20 bucks, and it's made by Scosche, a well known name in the automotive industry. That should take care of your noise.
yeah, the speaker doesn't come with it... you have to buy it extra... which makes no sense... because the ONLY reason you use the T-harness in a J-car is to reproduce the chimes...

So.. if you want chimes, you have to shell out the extra $60 or whatever you can find it for ($60 is a RIP OFF in my humble opinion)...

Otherwise.. there's really no point to using the T-harness. The same effect (no chimes) is easily achieved by removing the factory head unit and dragging it behind your car on a piece of rope. Or, simply putting it in storage, or selling it on Ebay, throwing it out, donating it to charity, etc.

i hung on to my stock one, in case my good one gets robbed, or dies, or if i want to trade the car in, etc etc.

jrs Z- you gotta buy all that shizzle if you wanna keep the chime. its expensive. and it sucks. or yu could just say screw it and lose the chime and save yourself the 180 or so bucks. your call

If you want chimes to remind you that the lights are on, why not just use a relay and a piezo alarm that will go off when the car is off and the lights are on? That would be much cheaper than all of this t-harness nonsense.

Just want to ask, whats the difference between all the T-harness's available on the market? specifically Scocsche and Metra, I know for a fact on this forum someone told me that the Scoshe one will make me looose the chimes because it doesn't come with the speaker. I'm just curious and want to be informed. BTW i'm looking at buying the GMRC-01 soon.

The interior light is shut off by the body control module after ~15 minutes if you leave it on.

Don't all the newer GM cars have battery run down protection, thats stupid that the headlights are not part of that.

.. and 2005... but i listened to them, payed the extra 100$, probably wasted my money, but on the bright side the door chime reminds me that my keys are in my ignition... and without it, i would have locked my keys in my car... oh at least a dozen times... and i've had it for one month!

Alright now i know these thread was started in 03 LOL,but i haven't been around that much.

Im a little confused on the Air bag thing

i was always told you just have to pull the fuse for them disconnect the negitave terminal on the battery and then start takeing the dash apart

now as to makeing a 12v connection for the new radio,is it possible to just run it into a empty spot into the fuse panel with a 15 amp fuse, unstead of taping this and that LOL

these are my questions,i hope know one has forgotten about the thread

ive taken my dash apart over 20 times in the year ive owned this car. you dont have to pull the airbag fuse. if your very clumsy, or a n00b, then you might want to.
