WHEELMAX.COM ALERT!!!

This post will be long but its worth the read if you're in the market for a new set of rims/tires.

My younger brother, Chris, recently purchased a set of 17" rims/tires from wheelmax.com for his 2004 VW Golf. The tires came in a timely manner and look great, but thats the end of our satisfaction.

When we placed the order for the rims, we clarified the make/model with the sales rep. and let him know that the VW Golf lugs weren't the same as most cars(the lug is attached to the bolt and goes into the wheel hub instead of the way our cars are). He claimed to be aware of this.

We recieved the rims to find that the standard tuner lugs were sent with the rims. We called wheelmax and the rep. we talked to said that the lugs they sent us were all they had in stock. We were told that we could go to any other local tire shop and purchase the correct lugs, and upon faxxing wheel max a reciept, we would recieve a credit to our credit card for the amount. We bought the lugs and once the tires were mounted we found that they weren't balanced properly. Again we called wheelmax and were told to get them balanced and fax a reciept. All in all, my brother has shelled out a total of $100.84 to fix wheelmax's mistakes.

Yesterday a credit of $40 was put back onto my brother's credit card from wheelmax. He called and asked why it was only $40 and not $100.84. He was told that because he paid wheelmax $20 for balancing and $20 for the lug nuts (included in his wheel/tire package), thats all he would be credited. The sales rep. he originally spoke to said he would recieve a full refund for HIS expenses.

He is calling the sales rep. again today and will hopefully speak to a manager or supervisor and I'll be forwarding this letter to wheelmax on his behalf. I just wanted to make everyone aware...just because the deal is good doesn't mean everything will work out right.

Thanks for reading,
Brian

i know it was just one incident. never did i say that wheelmax was a bad company and that people shouldn't do business with them. i actually learned about wheelmax.com by reading a post on this website about how good they were. i just wanted to let people know what happened to just so they don't think everything is always perfect. i'm not slandering wheelmax.com at all...

You bought cheap rims, you paid for it in the long run.

I'm not knocking you, because I've dealt with Wheelmax, I spent around $1000 with them for my old 18's, and when the spline for the tuner lugs broke, leaving me with only 3 on my car, they still charged me $20 to send a new spline drive 2day.

I had an issue with them, ended up suing them and got no where. They took my 4 rims back for warrantee repair, but never gave me money or replacement rims.

i ordered wheels a while ago from them... they told me they would be shipping them out within the next week. well, one month and no wheels, so i called and asked them where they were. the guy said "we don't have that wheel in stock and probably won't for another 4 months." so, i cancelled my order and bought my wheels locally

They told me 19x9.5 wheels with 275/35/19 tires would fit a cavalier. BE AWARE

Well I have another horror story. I purchased a set of 18inch Racing Hart C-5's from them with tires cost me 1600, I did get the wheels I perfect packaging, when I put the wheels on my car they looked perfect. So I decided to drive to the mall about 3 miles away. At about the 2nd mile I noticed that when I merged into the left lane my car felt like the tires were flat. So I pulled over and sure enough both driver side wheels were flat. With the 35 series not really noticable. I managed to make it to a gas station to pump them up. When I tried to fill them up It sounded like the bead was broken so finally they ended up pumping up. The rest of the night no problems. Next day going to work got to almost the same spot flat again. So i took them off and checked them out nothing not even a nail. Called up wheelmax and said it seems that the bead was not seated right they told me the same go get them remounted, I was like I thought thats what I payed you for. So I shipped them back and to my suprise they arrived at my house a week later NOT FIXED. I ended up paying to have new tires put on cause they indeed didnt mount them correctly. There not a bad company but there service sucks badly.

I got some 17's from them fine. No problems. Then I ordered some chrome 17's for my girlfriend, and the chrome starts chipping away. sent them back for waranty and then sent me back the wrong wheels. Benn a couple months still haven't got it fixed correctly.

i bought a wheel/tire package with a warranty from them about a year ago, and i'm trying to send 2 rims back to be repaired for chipping. i've called them like 5 times, been put on hold forever, faxed my info to them twice just so that they can send me a ship authorization number. they tell me they have to go over the info, and they never call me back. i'm ready to contact the Better Business Bureau because this is a load of crap. watch out, you get what you pay for!

I've ordered my rims from them and my only issue was that I got them slightly later than I was expecting but that's because it was when there were hurricanes coming through Florida and they are right in Palm Beach.

I don't think any company is perfect and I certainly don't think wheelmax is perfect. I think they are decent company which must deal with thousands of customers and I'm sure there are more satisfied customers than dis-satisfied.

Anywhere your going to purchase anything you just have to be ready for any consequences, especially when you purchase something online or over the phone and not in person.

I'm frustrated with them as well. I placed an order over 2 weeks ago. The guy said when I ordered them that I could expect them in 4 business days. It's now been 2 weeks and I haven't got them. I called them a day or two ago and come to find out it took almost 2 weeks for them to even ship them out. I just hope there are no problems when I eventually get my wheels.

My only other experience ordering wheels and tires was when I got my Enkei's from Discount Tire and they had them on my doorstep in 3 days.

Trying not to hijack the post,.. but has anyone dealt with wheelsnext.com? Im looking into getting rims sooner or later, and they have 17's starting at 600 with tires and free shipping. Seems cheap and i know the quality of the rims are reknownd, but im just curious.

Any opinions

Well just to update I finally got my wheels. I'm glad I got them but I'm also displeased. The wheels and tires are great but it took 20 days to get them. I was told a week when I ordered. I also didn't get any lugnuts. The invoice says they were supposed to be in there but they weren't. Luckily I was able to use the ones off my old wheels.

Overall I'm split on my experience.

i hate to say it but it sounds like the first experience was fair.....i mean if you paid 40 for the balancing and lugz and you got all 40 back..??then you got your money back?? only problem i see is you spent to much getting new ones THINKING taht whellmax would pay for whatever you got.....to break it down it sounds like from all your posts that wheelmax is just like EVERY OTHER COMPANY...sometimes good sometimes bad.....roll the dice and a picka number
