if I ever decide to go all out on my sedan, I know who I'd be calling.
LOVE the attention to detail and the innovation put into this car! Great work! one of my fav j's!
Thanks all.
The updates are as follows:
Trunklid moutns done
Rear suspension together (needs alignment)
I modified my jackshaft bracket some for additional strength (never took a pic)
The front axle that tormented me forever is in
Brakes bled
Oil primed
Car running (idiling anyway)
Then it gets interesting. Last sat I press the clutch in, go to put it in reverse and boom, car lunges back and stalls. WTF?
Long story short, i looks like I have too much clutch slave throw and its causing the PP to bind on the disc. If I only depres the pedal like half way the clutch disengages and the car will roll freely while in gear. For giggles I verified that the clutch slave is not going back in as the clutch pedal goes down. The slave movement is consistent with the clutch pedal.
So now I gota figue out how to handle this.....

^^^ Right.
Last night I pulled the starter out and looked at the TOB pressing the PP fingers while the wife operated the pedal. There was nothing funny going on so I assume that the clutch really was re-engaging due to the extra travel. With her help I was able to come up with an appropriate height pedal stop. Now, with the pedal on the stop I have full disengagement. Its like 2.5" from the firewall (probably just an inch taller than the stock clutch switch that I never had would have been). So win I guess. Maybe next winter Ill finally put my new clutch master in. Until then, screw it, it works.
Now, to put some miles on this new clutch so I can get tuned in a few weeks.

Who are you planning on having tune it? Ricky Bobby?
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
You bet! If I can get up the mountain. Hah.

He's got a built 2.3 quad in his attic though, I wasn't expecting that.

Make sure you check out that old Cadillac while you're there, some insane modifications to that thing. But I'm sure he'll give you the tour, haha.

So tonight I let the car run for a few minutes, backed it out of the garage, and pulled it back in, no issues. More tomorrow. haha

It doesnt usually stay that way too long lol. Ill leave it for now.
I havent updated this in some time but I have been chipping away.
-added an attional brace to my jackshaft bracket
-installed passenger axle, FINALLY
-trunk lid mounts are complete. I still need to mount the spring terminal connections for the plate lights, but Ill get to that eventually
-finally fabbed up a shock hood prop. The top mount is quick release so I can unhook it in the garage (I like to tie the hood straight up and down for easy access). All parts for it were sourced from McMaster
-rear hubs and brakes are completely assembled along with all the front suspension (just needs alignment)
-clutch issue solved by adding a pedal stop
Also finally recieved my new oil cooler and Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate (took like 6 weeks to get)
And a few pics:
And the new oil cooler and tstat/sandwich adapter. My old seutp was rediculously complicated. Remote mount filter, separate Tstat and a crappy B&M cooler. By going to this setup I lose 10 connection points and like 450 degrees in fittings. Basicaly itll just be two hoses, win.
Tonight I backed it out of the garage, and right back in, no issues. The clutch was fine and it ran well. I just didnt have time to take it for a spin.

RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Awsome man, this is looking like its gonna be a good summer for you.
Drove a few miles last night. No real issues. Everything seemed normal, other than maybe some stale fuel. (I just have like a gal of last years E85 sitting in the tank so Ill have to make a run for some fresh).
This weekend Im hoping to get it scaled and aligned and put some more miles on it.
Hopefully be on the dyno in two weeks ish.
