Spatter can be kept under control with the correct settings on the welder. I never use anti-spatter anymore, as it contaminates the weld. In a high heat application like a turbo system, I'd want as clean a weld as I can get to prevent cracking down the road. That's just a personal opinion though, obviously you're welcome to use any method you're comfortable with.
I agree with you 100% on weld contaminates. But settings won't stop all spatter I use this while building galvanized boxes and we normally tack it in place or clamp it, then spray it down and wipe the weld groove clean with some mineral spirits since we don't normally paint them after, just grind the weld smooth and spray with zinc paint. If I was to weld turbo goodies I'd opt for a tig over a mig. But you have to work with what you have and I did mig turbo stuff as well at one point. sorry for getting off point Chris.
I give you credit for polishing all that aluminum. I did it for a while on mine and it got old on a year round daily driver with salt on the roads. Keep the ball rolling, I'd like this and the g ladder done to keep moving.
I'm not sure what you are up to Friday, but I will be pulling the interior out of this car. Hope to see you there buddy...
And here I was all excited....

Man he moves fast... I've barely got drywall up and spackled in my washroom.
He is parting Sickness...so I assume Sweetness should be next to be worked on?

Lol, you guys...
Well the engine is finally out of the silver carcass... I'm pulling the racetronix pump out of it next week. I'm saving that for Sweetness.
I also need the rear glass out of the cavalier since I dropped my spare Sunfighter bumper on Sweetness and destroyed the rear glass.
I'll be saving a few parts off the silver car and putting them on the black car - as soon as the shell is dragged away I'm going to focus my attention on finally finishing the black car. I now have the alternator that I needed as well as a few other parts, all I require is a turbo rebuild and a few gaskets and the rest is 100% labour on my end. I have the wiring diagrams all drawn up I just need to finally get to work on the thing.
It's been a long time coming, but I haven't given up on this car. I WILL get what I wanted out of it, have my fun.... and probably sell it for a new project down the road. But I refuse to let it go until I have my fun with it.

-Sweetness-
-Turbocharged-
Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
I'm here rooting you on buddy.

I was excited to see this bumped.
I think we all should start weekend road trips to help put each others' cars together.
