Working on a FAQ...need your help...newbies too!
Saturday, September 03, 2005 5:35 AM
Well I'm working on a FAQ and I want people to put questions they would like to know or for people who answer peoples questions constantly, what questions do you think people ask alot that should be added into the FAQ?

I'm about halfway done and just wanted other peoples input...any question will do.

I think some neewbs need to know that if they want quality parts, they have to spend a lot of money. They have to know they can't skip out for e-bay parts all the time. Also, a good list of places online or in person (summit, jegs, rksport, ADVANCE AUTO PARTS, RT 1 IN EDISON!) and all that stuff.

I understand where you're coming from but that is more detailed and usually "newbies" aren't at the point of purchasing or owning a supercharger...they are just getting into the game and are working with bolt ons.

If you have any other suggestions they are welcome.

Hmmm... let's see. It'd be nice if someone went through the performance FAQ and basically made a single post outlining basic bolt ons, techniques, where to buy, what's best, pros and cons, compare and contrast, installation guides, tech tips, and so on and so forth. It'd be a very long post yet would have the capability of being much more organized.

That would be nice but I wanted to do more of a question answer form.

not sure about a q&a but you can definitely stress the fact that they should always read the FAQs at the top of each forum before modding or even posting. also, let em know that they have to do research outside of sitting around and reading posts. you could let them know that they should get to know their car, see how it reacts and talks back to the driver before they start to do random s**t and expect it to work. i don't know, i'll try and think of some q&a's for you.

Blown.

Even though it is in the Library, how about the ever popular DRL disable?

Auto to Manual tranny swap is another popular one.

I think first focusing on cheat and/or free mods should really be expressed. Another section could be simple J body maintence.

Not sure if I should really instruct people how to mess with their electrical system...

I actually meant to add that to the current FAQ. I'll modify that later on too...

It's just one of those questions that I see about every 7-10 days or so.

BTW, props on taking the initiative writing up the FAQ.

Maybe for newbs you can have a section explaining how to put on vinyl; windshield banners, body graphics, et cetera so they dont screw them up.

That and maybe one on how to install a short throw shifter. I havent seen one of those.

If you want me to write one for either of those just say so.
