Won't be any easier on the Cobalt...

In fact, it will be harder and a longer wait. The Cobalt is going to be using a brand new protocol called KWP. Up until now, all GM cars have been using a communications protocol called VPW. And on top of that, the industry will be dropping OBD-3 soon, and thats just a whole new load of hurdles to get over.

and chrysler is coming out with something already called CAN BUS. everything down to wipers and headlights and tail lights, go through the computer and the computer tells them to turn on no direct wiring at all.

CAN has been out for a little while.

You'd be surprised what you can talk to through the OBD port on your car. Everything from the windshield wipers to the stock radio, airbag modules, seat belts, tons of things talk on the OBD bus.

Rodimus Prime wrote:someone else will jump on the boat and they wont, i wont feel a bit sorry for them, i think why there is so much going on right now is that we are in the middle of a revolution right now. The V8s of the mostly older crowd do thier thing and most of us within the younger segment do our thing with the 4 bangers. Theres a number of differences which seperate us. They like rear drive we grow up in an era where few cars are v8 and hardly any are rear drive. We are used to better gas mileage and focus more on suspensions. We are accepting to technology while the old timers swear by thier carbs. v8s dont rule or roam the streets anymore, they havent for years. In 1985 I wouldnt believe that a cavalier could beat a camaro. Now in 2005 the cobalt ss can beat alot of them. The V8 guys are in denial I think and they still think that its inconceivable to get beat by a 4 banger.

I know this alot because of the conversations that I have with my dad. For instance a 1967 Shelby GT 500 runs 14.0 in the 1/4 mile many of us on here have beaten that . He just swears that no 4 cylinder can beat a V8. He thinks its silly for me to mod my car. Fact of the matter is that when I'm done my car will roast anything he ever built. Young guys dont mod V8s cause its not what they grew up with, we cant afford the insurance on a v8 either

NIce post Robo, hopefully they will take it to heart. Unfortunately, the eco will be getting this software eventually, regardless of who comes out with it. The 2.4TC, and 2.2OHV might not be so fortunate if this falls through.

Has any tried using the E48 EXP ECU from http://www.dtafast.co.uk/ ?

I think when I emailed them they priced it at $400, and that seems like a steal if it works.

The latest from HP tuners...

" Guys, we certainly understand the market potential. The decision to delay until after LS2 is purely a business one, we have 100's of tuners who use our software everyday, not a day goes by where we don't get at least 10 emails in regards to C6 and Holden support for LS2 engines.

The best thing that you guys can do to help speed things up at the moment is start a list/vote of the most popular models (approx. 2-3) and years (post 99).

That is where we will begin. Once we get the list nailed we will ask for beta testers.

Chris... "

POST ' 99 2000 and up you can at least get the GM reflash for the Supercharger to run a turbo with for a while ( on the 2.4's )... What about us PRE '00 !!!

2000-2002 for the reflash, us 03-05 guys are in the same boat as 96-99

Well this sucks. So now it's either TEC3R or MotecM4 which are both pricey.

I say we start a "Support Shifted's OBDproject Fund"!!!

Yeah, that would be better than running the MSD 6212, a s-afc2, an adjustable fpr and a wide band commander to try to get things in tuned. Pricewise too. There's still so much missing. Like turning certain components off internally.

He guy it's for a head start.....

Don't panic they will eventually give suport but you dont have the same pcm code than 00+ for now the 00+ code is almost finished so they want to know.

Personally I got 2 sunfire GT 2000 to work on and i would be happy to get it as soon as possible.
