Tho it holds the same blub the prongs that hold hte light in are differ the sunfire one is too big. the Cavy one is smaller. Thats way you need the pig tail from the donor card. luckly we had extra ones.

I plan on doing a 00 to 03 cavalier swap this winter. I know im going to need the hood and bumpers. But my question is where can i mount the hood latch since im guessing I have to move it in order for the hood to lock in place. Keep in mind i havent purchased the parts for the conversion yet.

^ Try to find the stock latch bar (hood portion) and it should work fine. The 00 latch will not fit on the 03+ hood. Even if you try to modify the bar to fit, it will not be long enough to reach the latch on the rad support. With the proper bar, you shouldn't need to move the part on the rad support, but I can't guarantee that because I don't have the 03+ bar, just pins.

I read through all 3 pages and couldn't really find a conclusive answer, would the front end from an 03+ Sunfire bolt on to a 98 Cavalier? An 03+ Cavalier front end would for sure, correct?

03 Sunfire and 03 Cavalier yes would bolt right onto ur 98.. but u would need to wire in the new headlight pigtails for which ever one u pick.

Ok, I have an 04 Cavalier and i want to swap to a 00-02 front end. Do i really need the 00-02 fenders? i think iv seen it swapped with the stock 03-05 fenders. I don't want to have to spend more than i have to.

hey guys, read through and this wasnt mentioned...if i was going from my 03 to a 95-99 do the brackets taht hold the 99 corners to the fender bolt in or would they need to be welded in? and if they bolt in would the holes be in the 03 fenders or no? thanks for the help.

Quote:

03-05 Fenders(00-02 can be used, IF you remove the corner bracket if you have a 00-02, also 95-99 can be used IF and only you cut off the bracket that holds the 95-99 turn signals on)

Ok so if I decide to do this 03-05 front end swap I can use my 96 fenders, but need all the rest the stuff off of the 03-05 Cavy, correct, I don't want to start and then have it back fire in my face, thanks for the help.

u can use the 95-99 fenders yes.. u just have to cut out the metal brackets that the 95-99 turnsignals bolt to.

just make sure u get the latch to the 03-05 hood also. when i went from 03 to 00-02, i never thought the latch was different and sat confused for like an hour as to why the hood was sitting up, lol

i even went and got the latch assembly from an 02 thinking it was lower, never even considering the latch.
and FYI, 95-05 latch assembly is the same, lol

ya, the hook part bolted to the hood. the 03-05 is a bit longer than the 95-02

Here's one, how much fabrication would have to be done to a 99 hood to get 03+ headlights to fit? and if the 03 headlights are as big as the 00-02's I know that the bumper will have to be shaved as well.

^ You would need to cut part of the hood where the curve is, and then fill in the gaps on the side & top. But even then, you're hood would be too 'short' b/c the 03+ headlights stick out further than 95-99/00-02.

Hmmmmm......guess the only way around that is to modify where they bolt on to make them sit back further?....Probably not worth the headache. Thought I could save a little $$$ by not having to buy the hood and bumper. Thanks.

Def not worth the time IMO. You would have to chop up & section the header panel or radiator support (whatever its called on these cars) behind the headlights. Better off just goin' to the junkyard and finding an 03+ Cav with a good front to get all the pieces from.

Yeah. I was just trying to keep my Z bumper. Maybe I'll just go with the 02's
