So far I found..

AV4744 CRL Door Flange Weatherstrip - Various GM Cars - 1/2 in Width at Technology LK that matches parts 12362938,12362939,12362940, and 12362941.

https://www.technologylk.com/crl-door-flange-weatherstrip-various-gm-cars-1-2-in-width-lk-AV4744.html

$70.43 for a 50ft roll and a bit more to cut to fit, but alot better than $200+!!!!

Hope this helps, so far is looks like the most expensive part is 12335401

I'll let you know how it is after install!

The potential issue I see with what you found is that (unlike the original OEM strip #s you are trying to replace) the bottom of the CRL strips (the part that sits in the retainer) doesn't have the small "arms" on each side that hold the strip tight in the retainer. Also, the three strips that seal the windows on each side don't all have the same depth (the far rear one is about three quarters of an inch deeper than the front two). Do let us know how this works out -- after a true leak test using a hose.

One other thing (which looks like a big problem) I just noticed - that strip you mention on that CLR link is only a half inch wide. The OEM strips are twice that wide, which means the CLR stuff will not be held properly in the strip retainers. E.g., it will dis-form when the top is down due to the fact the sides aren't getting the proper support. And dis-formed stripping = leaks.

There goes Mikey, crushing everyones' dreams of an affordable repair...

Philippians 3:10 (Amplified Bible)
10[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [[a]which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

this is sucky...the front one around the window is going for me. How difficult would it be to remove one in better shape from a junkyard car? does removing it trash it?

ZsZ, I don't think you will find one in a junkyard. If you did find one, it would be hard to remove it without damaging the weatherstripping. I bought a new one and replaced mine last spring.

the sides are easy to remove. but once you get to the top of the window it becomes very difficult. since my top window seal is fine, i just spliced gaskets from a junkyard to my top one. i know its originally one piece. but it was much easier and WAY cheaper at two dollars for both sides.

The pick n pull I go to always has verts, Ill give it a try the worst thing that can happen is i trash it upon trying to remove it. i just dont have 230 to spend on a gasket right now but im tired of getting soaked when it rains. Thanks for the advice guys. Sometimes you gotta become resourcful lol.

yup, just start at the bottom of the rubber seal. start peeling it up by the side view mirrors. and use a flat head to help break into the seals adhesive. take your time. just get your self some new adhesive when you install it onto your car. what i did when i installed mine was over lap the "NEW" seal onto my old on. and cut through both. when combinedit creates an almost flawless fitment.

It was leaking at the top of my windshield. I don't mine cost me $230. I got mine from Brasington GM in Florida. They were cheaper than anywhere around me in PA.

that is the honest truth...!
this spring will probably be about the time for me to look into some sort of a replacement. the top seal is fine but its the a pillar areas that are getting wore out.

I agree even if i had the money....500 for stripping that probably cost 15 dollars for GM to make would be a hard push.

I purchased one of the sets of J-Body convertible weatherstripping recently available on E-Bay and I am pleased with the product. All seven of the pieces were made in Canada and may, or may not be, OEM. I paid $500 and a second set sold for $700. The pieces were distributed by: Hydro-E-Electric (www.hydroe.com) a very reputable company in the convertible parts field. Their 2010 catalogue does not, however, list the J-Body weatherstripping.

Has anyone checked out 1stChevyParts.com which is listing all OEM J-Body convertible weatherstripping? The difficult to find over the windshield piece appears to be listed at $292.

That site is just one of the scores of online GM parts sources (almost all of which are actually dealer or distributor storefronts) that "catalog" this weatherstripping. However, the fact they catalog it doesn't mean it is actually available. Numerous times I've put in an order on these sorts of sites for the infamously hard to find right rear weatherstrip section. Yes, an order confirmation mesage initially comes through - always followed a day or two later by a message saying "unfortunately that part is no longer available."

That finally led me to contact GM Parts Direct, not to secure the part but to get their list of firms that specialize in tracking down out of production items (old new stock, not junkyard, which in the case of weatherstripping is generally a waste of time unless the wreck is relatively fresh - which is not the case with J body verts which were last made a decade ago). Several were very helpful, with access to databases that let one search part inventory in just about every warehouse and dealer in North America. One of those searches finally located two pieces of the right rear weatherstripping I was looking for at a dealer in Arizona. Unfortunately, when I contacted the dealer, I found out the last piece had been sold the day before I called.

Bottom line: outside things like those two, rare recent eBay listings (which were likely non-inventoried NOS, obviously priced by someone who knows the market) OEM replacement weatherstripping for our verts is just going to get tougher to find. That isn't going to change until the aftermarket firms that supply vert restoration specialists like Hydro-Electric decide there is a market for it. Unfortunately, our cars aren't old or collectible enough yet. Give it another ten years or so.....

I just got off the phone with Bob, Parts Manager of Kirkland Chevrolet, at 1-800-291-0907. The dealership does online business as1stChevy Parts.com.

Bob said that he has access to five OEM J-Body convertible top of the windshield weatherstrips at a GM warehouse. The part number is 1235401. List price is is $412. He will sell them at $292 and change.

Interesting - when I replaced all the weatherstripping on my convertible a little over a year ago, the OEM windshield part wasn't an issue (it was in stock at just about every firm I contacted). Frankly, at that time the only OEM pieces that were a problem to locate were the two rear ones.

Wow this is frustrating. It's a PIECE OF RUBBER for Christ's sake, why should it be so damn expensive? We really need another option people. There HAS to be something that works.

I need the front right, front left, and windshield weatherstrip pieces (part #'s: 12335401, 12362939, and 12362938), and they cost a total of $531.85 shipped from gmpartsdirect.com. I find it hard to believe there is no cheaper alternative. Why do the aftermarket dealers not make anything for this model yet? Also, surely there is some other model with the same dimensions that will work with a little trimming? Is there really not??

ARG!!!!!

So maybe I should just start asking around at various junk yards? Do you know the year range that I can use (I have a 2000 Cavalier Z24)? Do the Sunfires in that year use the same stripping? Thanks!
