Congrats, GAM, by insinuating that anyone that thinks that people should legislate based upon their moral conviction equated them to Iran, you're gonna get every bass-ackwards, bible-thumpuing jesus freak with their tongues firmly implanted into Pat Roberton's poopchute flaming you for that...

I'm just jealous that i didn't think about it first, but then again, i would have equated them to the Taliban.

The line may have also been in a letter to the churches but I deff remember reading in history that the quote was in the aformentioned letter to the constitutional congress. I agree that it has been mis-quoted and mis-represented by the A.C.L.U. and other groups of "do gooders" who insist on trying to impose there will on others. Ironicly this is what the constitution was meant to stop. Oh well, What can you do? Sorry for the tangent guys we now resume our regularly schedualed argueing.

Keeper: well, I live in a country where there is very definite separation of church and state. The foresight was written into our constitution to very definitely separate both entities.

Besides, you know I can handle bible thumpers

Jack: http://members.tripod.com/~candst/tnppage/tnpidx.htm Just a google search away. It's a page devoted to the constitution has the separation of church and state debate. From what I've read it's pretty much pro-separation, but it's arguably the most thorough.

It is OT.. definitely.

Perhaps the whiners (from the neo-con side I should state) can shut the hell up now.

So what, Athiests or people who believe in other God(s) or Nature or whatever religion shouldn't hold powerful places in the government? Here's a wakeup call; GOD didn't give the government power, we the people of the United States give the goevernment power by voting in people to the Senate, Congress and President offices.

Oh my......you poor kid; you really don't know do you? God created all and all is His. Any power we have is granted from God. Our government was meant for a Godly people and none other. Again, you do not have to believe me nor do you have to believe God.

anyone else smell a bible thumper?.....

<rant>
God has not granted anyone power. What a person does, and those who follow that individual are making their own individual choice, but it is only god that can judge. If you want to get technical...

Also if anyone thinks Bush is a Christian he is very far from it. FYI republican slanted companies are the ones that own all the Pornography channels you can get on Direct TV, Dish Network, Adelphia, Comcast etc.... Gee that sounds OH SO Christianly. Working with oil companies, BEING IN BUISNESS with the Bin Laden family (Bush's failed buisnesses), and letting the ones that were here in the country visiting him leave the country the day after 9/11 despite everyone elses flights being grounded.

Me, I'm a christian, and I voted Democrat, always have, and at this rate always will. Bush was not the better person and never will be. I'm not saying we've never had a good republican leader, but we havn't had one since I can remember politics.

The war on IRAQ has nothing to do with the war on terrorism, it's just a son finishing a fathers work. For that matter the war on terrorism is nothing but preemptive strikes for what we think will be a war.

Anyone else remember the announcement "Mission Accomplished" then why are we still over there.

Then finally comes Louisianna. Federal aid never got there in time. But as soon as Texas and Florida are under possible threat (2 of bushes states) everything is taken care of in advance. Minimal casualties.

You can say all you want to defend Mr. Bush. But in the end he is a lying little brat that did nothing but drink his ass off every night and one day his father came along and said time to go steal the presidency.

You think I am a Republican because I am a Christian? Oh come now. George Bush is not acting as a Christian should. He is almost as bad as the Democrats.

No, it's not "seek and ye shall find", Chris. What i want you to do is prove--or at least attempt to prove:

1) That God created everything, and had no help.
2) That everything Belongs to God, and none of this is under dispute.
3) That any so-called "power" is gfained through his divine will along, and any loss is because the person fell fromm grace with him--and that there is no source of power that isn't derived from God (this includes "selling your soul to Satan").
4) That America is supposed to be "God's Land", and prove that everything that has happened in america is God's will--including all of the pitfalls.

I want you to be able to come up wioth a decent explanation--if not proof. No vague answers--nothing based off faith (unless you're willing to admit that your stance is 100% based upon the faith you have as a christian and grounded little, if at all, in fact).

If you can't do any of those, then you can't make the claims that you made.

what happens if i believe that a damn alien or a rock created everything? i guess that means i cant live in America. apparently if you are hindu you cant live here either. and how about those Native Americans that these "godly" people threw out of their own land and killed a large amount of the population. i know they were here first and they didnt believe in God, they had several gods.

The nation was founded because we wanted freedom from oppression. . .meaning a place that does not care what one does with his own life or beliefs. therefore America is made for everyone. All these God references are around now beacuse most people back then were WASPs( White AngloSaxon Protestant). there was too much diversity because they were still under English rule.

Actually the original colonists wanted religious freedom for themselves, not any one else.

Nice principles eh?

I don't believe that. They wanted a place that they could live and be free from religious persecution.

Like a fine wine good responses get better with age?

I think the nomination process should be more vetted than it currently is. I also think the justices should only be allowed to interpret the constitution and only deal with issues directly thereunto pertaining.

They got a raw deal at the last state of the union btw.
