NEWLY REDESIGNED AVEO SEDAN ENHANCES 2007 CHEVROLET PASSENGER CAR LINEUP

LAS VEGAS – The debut of the newly redesigned 2007 Chevrolet Aveo sedan proves that great things can come in small packages. The new Aveo sedan broadens the appeal of Chevy’s passenger car lineup, which was significantly enhanced last year with several SS performance models; a newly redesigned Impala flagship sedan (which gets a new, fuel-saving engine option for 2007); and the much-anticipated return of the Corvette Z06.

“Chevy was America ’s top-selling vehicle brand in 2005. Our passenger car portfolio, which delivers value, style and affordable performance for customers from all walks of life, is a major reason why,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “With its good looks, enjoyable driving experience and ‘big car’ personality, the ’07 Aveo sedan will continue to play an important role in Chevy’s passenger car family.”

Only 2.5 years since it was introduced, an all-new Chevrolet Aveo reaches the market. The 2007 Aveo sedan boasts an all-new exterior and roomy interior design characterized by youthful refinement; a more confident, dynamic driving experience and generous features usually seen in more expensive cars. It was designed to challenge expectations of what an entry-level car can deliver, as was the case with the preceding generation Aveo, which quickly became the top-selling lineup in the country.

The Aveo lineup attracts the highest rate of first-time buyers of any GM vehicle, providing Chevy with a great opportunity to earn these customers’ long-term loyalty. Like the premium small-car Cobalt family and the HHR small crossover vehicle, Aveo also generates a high number of conquest sales. Seventy-five percent of Aveo sales represent “plus” business for GM.

Highlights of Chevrolet’s 2007 passenger car offerings include:

Aveo – The 2007 Aveo sedan is available in LS and LT models and offers a range of value-driven options to suit a variety of lifestyles. In redesigning the sedan, the Aveo team reached beyond the highly important affordability factor to deliver a smooth, safe driving experience and amenities that are hard to find in this segment.

A five-door version of the Aveo, called the Aveo5, is also available for 2007. It is based on the existing model but sports new Aveo 5 badging and several other enhancements, including a retuned suspension to deliver a more European-like driving experience.

The Aveo sedan is well-equipped, with s tandard features including a five-speed manual transmission; air conditioning with cabin filtration; vented front disc and rear drum brakes; MacPherson strut suspension; power steering; seat-mounted side-impact air bags; body-color outside rearview mirrors and door handles; AM/FM stereo radio with auxiliary input device for iPods; tinted windshield and windows; driver’s seat with fold-down armrest, manual height adjuster and manual lumbar adjuster; and floor mats.

Cobalt is available in LS, LT and SS coupe and sedan models, the LTZ sedan and 205-horsepower Cobalt SS Supercharged coupe.

Corvette – Chevy’s sports car icon enters ’07 led by the ultimate performance of the Corvette Z06. It packs a hydroformed aluminum body structure, carbon fiber exterior panels with an exclusive fixed-roof coupe configuration, a race-bred suspension system and a LS7 7.0L (427 cubic inches) V-8 rated at 505 horsepower (376 kW), making the Corvette Z06 GM’s fastest production car ever. For 2007, OnStar is available on the uplevel Z06. Corvette Coupe and Convertible models receive a number of optional interior enhancements and convenience features for ’07, including a new keyless access transmitter with integrated mechanical key and available steering wheel mounted audio controls. Coupe and Convertible models now include larger cross-drilled brakes available with the Magnetic Selective Ride Control, which is still the fastest-reacting variable damping technology.

Impala – Chevy’s flagship sedan gets a new, fuel-saving engine option for 2007, a 3.9L 3900 V-6 with Active Fuel Management technology, which seamlessly allows the vehicle to run on half of its cylinders in low-demand situations – such as at a traffic light – then switch to full power when needed. Impala is the first V-6-equipped GM vehicle to feature this technology. This 3.9L V-6 is standard on Impala LTZ and available on LT. LS and LT models receive a 3.5L V-6. The Impala SS is powered by a 5.3L small-block V-8 with Active Fuel Management, rated at 303 horsepower (226 kW) and 323 lb.-ft. (438 Nm) of torque.

Other new features for 2007 include the addition of OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation on Impalas equipped with OnStar’s Directions & Connections service package. Impala received a significant exterior and interior redesign for 2006.

Malibu , Malibu Maxx – Chevy’s midsize sedans are available in a number of models, including performance-minded Malibu SS and Malibu Maxx SS. For 2007, a 3.5L 3500 V-6 powerplant with variable valve timing replaces the previous 3.5L V-6 in the Malibu ; it is standard on LTZ and Malibu Maxx LT, and available on sedan LT models. The 3.5L 3500 V-6 is part of a new family of sophisticated overhead valve, 60-degree V-6 engines that optimize fuel economy and lower emissions. Other new features for 2007 include the addition of OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation on Malibus equipped with OnStar’s Directions & Connections service package.

Monte Carlo Monte Carlo draws on a rich NASCAR stock car racing legacy – the most successful nameplate in the sport’s history – to offer one of the industry’s only true midsize personal coupes. The vehicle has remained true to the roots of style and performance established at its introduction in 1970.

Monte Carlo shares the same contemporary and upscale styling of the redesigned 2006 Impala. For 2007, a factory Rally Stripe package can be ordered on Monte Carlo SS models, which feature a muscular 5.3L 5300 small-block V-8 with fuel-saving Active Fuel Management technology.

Also new for 2007, E85-capable 3.5L 3500 V-6 Monte Carlos receive a GM FlexFuel badge.
