About This Vehicle:

This is my father's 1982 VW Rabbit GTI. This is a specifically modified autocross car. Everything done to it was with the intent to improve it on the autocross course.

MODIFICATIONS

Engine:
  • 1.8l volkswagen GTI motor swap (there were no GTI's made in 1982)
  • Techtonics Tuning Catback exhaust
  • Tectonics Tuning downpipe
  • removed cat (its not a street car
  • so this is legal)
  • Custom Intake setup with K&N filter
  • Quaife autocross differential
  • Bosch Spark plugs
Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:
  • Tockico adjustable gas shocks with Progressive rate springs (about a 2" drop)
  • Strut tower bars (front and rear)
  • Sway bars (front and rear)
  • WAY too many wheel/tire combos to list but the latest are 15" steel wheels widened 1" with Hoosier Autocross compound tires (DAMN expensive)
Interior:
  • Red OMP racing seat (VERY comfortable)
  • RJS safety equipment 4/5 point Harness
  • Grant Racing Steering wheel and Hub
  • Custom in-car video setup. Newer GTI shifter
Exterior:
  • Front air damn
  • GTI front Grill
  • GTI emblems and trim
  • Autocross numbers and decals
  • Removed most moldings
  • Mismatched red paint and now silver hood (result of rollover a few years ago)
Audio:
  • Ancient blaupunkt tape deck
  • removed rear speakers
Miscellaneous:
  • Simpson Saftey equipment (Helmet gloves shoes...)
Future:
  • Hopefully to finish gutting the interior and weight reduction process and running in a full prepared class
